Right now i have a 5sp bmw m3. I love the stick on the backroads, hate it in traffic. I would rather have a mn6 than a a4, but a perfect, great deal a4 popped up in my town, and i cant decide if i should get it or try to find a 6sp. Help!!!

I had the same scenario, bought the a4, and eventually traded it for a Z06 (all are 6spd).
a4's are great, but I personally like the drive of the 6spd better.

Ive had both (97 A4 coupe / 02 Z06 MN6)... I wouldn't go back to an Auto for anything!
Well if you want a MN6 why compromise Other cars will come along. Get the car you want. You obviously know the advatanges and disadvanges of both depending on how it will be used. Just my .02

If you really want the six speed, then that's what you should go for. There are plenty of really nice manual equipped cars out there - just be patient and you will find the one for you.
Something I never understand about these discussions. I have an A4 & shift all the time, both on the street & at the track. I get the impression that people think A4 drivers don't shift.
As others have said...get what you like. If you feel the need to have a clutch, get the MN6. Either way...the C5 is a great car.
My DD Mustang is a 5spd and the Vette is an auto and when I get in the vette usually on a friday after a long day of work to go out and cruise with the lady the Auto doesnt bug me at all
With the number of C5s that have been made and people trading in to the new generation, you shouldn't have to compromise. There will be other deals out there on MTXs. My brother's only regret on his C4 was the auto tranny which he also did because of a great deal he came across on a 40th.
I am in my 60's with bad knees (which have been giving me hell lately)
BUT to be honest ...(which I AM) I just do not enjoy driving a Sports Car
..READ CORVETTE..that has a "slush box"...
Seriously looked at (and drive) a C6 with the paddle shifter...and it was "neat" BUT the paddle shifter still was not the same... Maybe in another few years I'll be forced to drive an automatic..if and when that time comes the paddle shift will have to do....
I have 5 Corvettes ...the 79 IS an automatic...its reserved for Sunday drives to the ice cream place...or when my DAMN KNEE is absolutely killing me... LOL
I bought and A4 and got a great deal on it and didn't think I would mind the auto. After a year I decided I really wanted a manual and took it to Indiana where Rodney and rpm transmissions converted it to an MN12. I like driving my car much better now.
It really is a matter of what you want. If you think you would prefer a manual then wait until you find what you want. It has nothing to do with comments like autos aren't real sports cars. It has everything to do with personal preference.

youre absolutly right on every count. If a person drove the a4 on the street,i think a good many whud be surprised ...to each his own...
