I just wanted to say a quick hello. My name Is Ryan Samson and I live in Tucson Arizona. Last week a traded in my 1996 Z28 and 1998 Trans Am in for a 2004 C5 Vette. I had a few questions on Mods. What are the basic mods that can get a C5 into the high 12s. I put some borla cat-back on the day I got it. What else is there that will not void the warrantee.

Welcome to the best forum on the Internet, Ryan! I wish you miles and miles of smiles!!
As far as what will get you into the high 12's - it shouldn't take much. These cars will go high 12's or low 13's pretty much stock, assuming a capable driver and traction. You don't say whether your car is an auto or manual. If it's an auto - there were two different final drive ratios available - standard was a 2.73 and the optional performance axle was a 3.15. If you have a six speed - it came only with a 3.42. Point is - you could upgrade to something numerically higher and get out of the "hole" a little faster.
Better breathing and exhaust will also help - a cat back alone won't help much other than sound and appearance. A sharp tune with a set of headers and a less restrictive intake like a Vararam or a Blackwing should accomplish your high 12's and not void your warranty. Couple that with a higher numerical gear - I'd say you're there!
oh crap, I'm sorry. Its a 6 speed....black on black.
Ya, I kind of figured it wouldnt take much to get this thing into the 12s.
So far am having a blast with it. To be honest I have never got all the way into the gas yet but I can tell that its a lot faster than my LS1 TA was. I ran a 13.65 in that. As for the intake....what's a good site to get one of those?
No problem, Good luck with the mods and remember to keep waving to other vette owners
OMG.lol The first day I got the car I quickly found out there is a secret corvette club. EVERY vette drive waves or gives thumbs up. At first me and my wife thought they were all crazy but now we both do the same thing

Welcome to the forum. There are several different intakes that you can get. Do some forum searches and you will find a lot of information. You can sometimes find a good deal in the C5 parts for sale section here. Then theres www.madvet.com, www.ecklers.com and many others. There is also ebay.
Take your time and do a little research before you start spending.
Even I give a thumbs up to vette owners, they kind of look at me funny because im 14, but it's all good
Hang in there my young apprentice. And, your "someday soon" will be here. One day you will be proud to inform us of how you finally acquired the car of your dreams. Till then, while on this forum, you are bound to become more knowledgeable, and, even more prepared. Good to see you on board, Ian!
