My Delco Freedom battery was put in my vert in 2001 and I'm still having no trouble. Anyone else get this lucky with them? I hear all the stories on why not to buy them, and instead get the optima, but I'm thinking the delco freedom has worked thus far, so why not keep it? Time to put one in before it goes bad, though. Anyone want to comment on why I shouldn't put another Delco in?

My AC Delco in the Vert died without warning after 8 months of use. No problem just dead.
The Camaro AC Delco was older and leaked. Luckily I caught it before it did any damage.
The original battery in my '01 Vert lasted until a year ago. (April). It was replaced then with a standard side terminal battery. If I had a do over, I would now put in a spiral cell battery just to minimize the potential for side post leaks...

I have had great service from Delco's in my Corvettes for many years. I have yet to have one leak, but personally know two that have had them leak in the past 5 years. For this reason I use an Exide Orbital in my C5. I'm not willing to chance a leak based on the battery's location. The Orbital is not that much more expensive than the Delco and in more than 2 years of service, I've had no problems at all. I will continue to use Delco's when it is practical to do so, but not in the C5.
Mine is a 2002 with the original battery and no problems. Fingers are crossed. But all my cars over the past 15 years have had Delco batteries and I have never had a problem with them. Of course I keep them charged when not in use and monitor them on a continuing basis. That sounded good!!
