Just curious what would be causing my shifts not to be smooth. Yes, I push the clutch all the way to the floor. Sometimes it acts like it doesn't even want to go into R. From time to time I have problems getting into 1st. When I'm moving, shifts into 2nd and 3rd seem rough. Any ideas, anyone else experience this?
I'm not a mechanic, but I've dealt with this before. It sounds like a hydraulic issue. It could be a slow leak in one of the cylinders
(most likely the slave cylinder if you are still using the older type) letting air get in. Does your clutch ever feel like it is sticking a bit?
If it goes real south it is pretty easy to diagnose. Clutch will stick a lot, sometimes all the way to the floor.. getting in gear becomes near impossible.
I have an '02 and this last winter I bleed the clutch. Man what a difference. And you wouldn't believe the crud that came out. While in there I installed the LAPD remote bleeder so that I never have to take the exhaust and tunnel plate off again to bleed the clutch. Last year I drained and refilled the tranny and that to made a nice difference. Also when I do that again I'll be putting in synthetic fluid. Hope that helps out. If your a do-it-yourself kind of guy and want to install a remote clutch bleeder let me know I'll probably be able to save you a few hours with the install.
