Whats funny is the Z06 is just a FRC with a lot of mods, just so happens the "mods" come from the factory. In the end, if you have a FRC and you put Z06 mods on it, you are basically doing the same thing the factory did, hehe.

edit: after reading through .. personally i could care less what you do to YOUR car... that said .. yes a z06 cluster will fit with no problems .. the only difference is the background of the speedo and the fonts.

you will have to have it calibrated so the mileage is the same tho ..

Heads should be finished by the time I get home so it will be cam and heads in about two weeks which should net me about 470 /480 respectively.

you're pushing a tuned 390 with headers, intake, and exhuast?

damn .. nice numbers.

calibrating's not a problem for my little old programmer dontcha know!! BTW, the Z06 gages were wanted because of the higher redline marking matches my new programming better plus it's easier for me (old fart that I am) to see when I hit the redline, even if I do have a shift light. I just like to CMA.

On the HP numbers I also have a mild cam, plus minor head work but getting new 243 heads C&C'd, milled etc w/honeycombs etc and hotter cam (580 lift / 225 duration) which should give me about 12.0 to 1 compression ratio and add about another 60 - 75 RWHP to the numbers. Only the Dyno knows for sure!!!!!!

WHY does everyone care how fast their car is? It's a C5 vette! Z06, coupe, whatever, they are all fast compaired to 90% of the cars on the road. Besides, they are one of the best looking cars ever made. You can only go so fast on public roadways and if you want to race on a track, hell I can build a car for half the price of a used C5 that will blow away a Z06. I bought my vette because it is a beautiful, fast, road machine! Besides, a stock C5 is worth more than a performance modded one, and a much more dependable and roadworthy automobile. Once you start spending money on the motor, you are hurting the actual value of the car. Try selling a car with performance mods, and you will find out, Most people are scared to touch it, they want a car that is stock and not driven hard! Sorry, just my 2 cents worth.

depends on your perception of fast, when alot of your friends have record setting hp cars, all the sudden a bolt on z06 seems like a civic lol.

Well I must admit I like the looks of the Magnum, as for the FRC I'm not sure you gain anything with the rear brake ducts unless you do track time. I will admit they look good, but I wouldn't cut my car for them and no stick ons for me. With all the vettes you own which one do you like the best? What do you use for a DD?

I don't see what the big deal is. It's his car and he can do whatever he wants to it. If he wants a Z06 clone - who cares?

And the cluster is a direct replacement, BTW.

It's Your Car If You Want To Make It A Z06 Do It .... You Did ! Some Say If You Want A Z The Sell It And Buy One Not All Of Us Are Rich Here . It Took Everything We Had To Get The Vette We Have So It's Not That Easy To Dump It And Get Another . The Only Thing I Will Say If One Day You Sell It Tell The Buyer It's Not A Z If You Don't Then That Sucks Enjoy Your Car !

Well, at the risk of getting flamed here... To answer your original question, I have a 99 FRC with a 2003 Zo6 cluster in it. I retro fitted it with a HUD and before I did that I was convinced from this forum that I would need a HUD enabled cluster because my car was built 10/28/98! I didn't want to have to take the dash apart twice, because I didn't know then that it is pretty easy to do. I saw the Zo6 cluster on ebay with a $250 buy it now and I did exactly that! It is primo. I had the mileage changed to the mileage in my car and put the aluminum bezel rings on it (see recent thread about one falling off). So then I took mine apart to put the HUD in and guess what? My cluster had the HUD plug! But, I had the $$$ invested in it and I thought WTF put the zo6 cluster in it! So, I have zo6 cluster, red zo6 fuel rail covers, red zo6 calipers, but I'm still running the wagon wheels on purpose and I will never put the Zo6 rear brake duct vents on because they look like an afterthought. One day I might put on the ACI rocker panels because I think they look too cool! Any rate your zo6 cluster will work and you know what? Your car looks pretty goll darn good! A lot better than a lot of these cars that look like call girls with too much makeup on.

I recently put Z06 seats in my FRC. Z06 seats are a little different i.e. stitching and perferation. Just because it has Z06 on the head rest isn't why I bought them. If I got coupe seats I would have to run wiring for it to work. Try finding FRC seats. I did buy badges but only for garage decoration along with alot of other vette stuff.

P.S. I like the rear brake ducts, breaks up the sides and gives it a mean look. To each there own.

I, too, am an owner of an FRC. Mine's a black 2000. I did the wheels, added the brake ducts and the front screens. I would love to do the Mod Red interior if I had the chance.

LOL -- It's quite a delima sometimes. Most of the time it's th e FRC 'cause I'm still working on it, the Magnum for haulin stuff, the wife's car when she parks in the wrong spot, and the '95 coupe the least since it is the rarest of the bunch. Just a little of 1700 of them made that year/color combo and, according to the NCM, one of less than 100 made with the grey/black interior, so it gets more pampering than the rest. That IS the original paint and interior by the way but a new Lexan top.

Current mileages:

'99 Torch Red FRC - 61,982
'02 Torch Red Coupe - 18,682 (wife's car)
'02 Quicksilver Coupe - 23,549 (sold - wife wanted a red one and doesn't like a stick in traffic, only in bed! - LOL)
'95 Dark Purple Metallic Coupe - 86,857
'05 Magnum - 17,845
