Default Not The Hail....

Hadn't driven the car in a while and wouldn't you know I pick this day, out of all days, to drive it.

Well, I got pummelled for about 10 minutes. Haven't had the nerve to go out and take a look at the car since I got home (plus the light in the garage isn't all that good).

Anyone have experience with exactly how susceptible the car is to hail damage?

Dave

No experience with hail and a C5 - but it won't dent like a mortal car. You might have some chips like you would from stones....just how big were the hailstones?

Sorry for your troubles....

A few years ago I got hit for about 5 minutes with pea to golf ball size hail. No damage that I can see.

Well, get a flashlight and go see! Hopefully, you'll have no damage.

Last Monday I got hit with baseball sized hail in my vette. I had an obvious cracked windshield but I didn't think there was any other damage until the next evening under the florescent lights I saw some wavy lines in the paint. I started looking closer and saw they were cracks in the paint. Turns out there were about 10 places from the hood to the trunk that the paint cracked.

Body shop says $4,200+ including the $1,500 windshield.

Probably ok with less than golf ball size but look anyway.

I went through a recent storm of golf ball size hail. I almost cried as I looked out my office window. Numerous people even dropped by with thier condolences. To my surprise, every car on the lot was beaten pretty badly but my Vette, it didn't have one dent. That goodness for fiberglass!

I hope everything is OK.

We got some pretty severe weather in Austin today as well. My vette was tucked away safely in the garage.

Dried the car off and waited for the sun to come back out yesterday. The initial inspection shows that there does not appear to be any damage, but once I get it out of the garage again (when the forecast is for NO RAIN) I will take a better look.

One of the previous posts mentioned fluorescent lights as well, so I may give that a try to see if I can find any additional damage.

Dave

Reminder to self... even a 20% chance or rain may be too much.

Smaller hail usually is not a problem for C5's, hope you have no damage!
