Fuel injector flush done by the dealer. I just did and I can't believe the difference in the acceleration! Its like a night and day difference. Steve Spencer at Bryner Chevrolet did a great job!

Used to have to have that done to my 85 fairly often. Stopped using Texaco gas at the recommendation of the service manager and never had another problem. Course that was 20 years ago...
Is this something that should be a problem if you don't every get a bad tank of gas?

Steve (the service tech) told me that he does his vette every year. He said that with the exception of Shell gasoline, all other gasolines do not have cleaning additives in them, so deposits will build up in the injectors. He recommends doing this for all fuel injected vehicles. I'm going to get mine done at least every two years. The difference is amazing.
Interested in cost as well and what exactly is it they do to the injectors? To properly clean them im assuming they have to remove them?
Also, how did you notice such a huge difference in acceleration? or is that your mind playing games on you because of how much money you spent to get it done?
Does your car have high miles or something to where it was very necessary? My stock 99 has run 110.5mph in the 1/4 mile cant imagine acceleration getting much better in stock form.
How much did this cost you? I found that this flush did nothing for my GTA.
I find that running two or three ounces of Lucas fuel system cleaner every 3-4 tanks (in the GTA and the C5) is cheaper and prevents the need for the flush (it is a can hooked up directly to the fuel rail and fuel pumps shut off during the process right?).
I also always fill up at Shell or a Hess station. Never had a problem with bad gas from them.

A quote from the service department is $139.95 for the flush. Not being real mechanically inclined I don't know how its done.
How did I know it was a hugh difference? It was so obvious that if you drove the car before this service was done and again after it; you couldn't miss the decided improvement in acceleration. I wasn't expecting any improvement, just thought it was a routine service and decided to have it done. Also had the brake system flush done also, but I don't notice any shorter stopping distances. My car is a '98 6spd. with 25,000 miles so its not a high mileage car.
Save the $130 bucks next time. Run some fuel system cleaner periodically (maybe once a month) and stomp on the go-pedal every now and then. It's cheaper than this service (which is good but only needed for extremely filthy fuel systems)

Put the $$ toward some mods that'll really give you more power.

You had better stop trusting Steve!! All gasolines have cleaning additives -- some are better than others. Chevron and Texaco use Techron which agruably is the best additive going.
You should make a point of using gas with more/better cleaning additives.
Although this has been mentioned before, perhaps it bears repeating: www.toptiergas.com

This is exactly true. Hence why alot of people run a bottle of Techron thru their system when they have the dreaded fuel level problem. It is pretty widely known that alot of us have had the fuel problem when using bad gas and then switched to Chevron and the problem went away. I had a buddy who didn't believe it but tried it and his problem went away. I have been using AMSOILs PI (Performance Improver) and it works great! Ask member Subdriver. He can give you some pretty good information.
