Who has had experience with putting a partition in their convertible? Does it really help with the rear end noise for sound deadening and does it take away much room in the trunk?
Also any suggestions on brands and the price.
Thanks!
IT depends on wha tit isa made of. Mine had an ABS core and is carpetied on both sides. It definitely deadens the noise from the rear end.
RE space it snuggly fits around the top so with the top stowed there is effectively very little lost space. I suppose it you are used to cramming things in and pushing against the folded top then you may have some issues as the partition will not give the way the folded top will.
Bought mine from CF member Crazy Cowboy at supporting vendor www.exoticvette.com
I bought mine from www.southerncarparts.com, made from MDF board, carpeted on both sides. Good fit, looks factory, a nice finish for the trunk. Doesn't take up any space, easily removed for storing large items. It helps a little bit with the noise.
I also got mine from Crazy Cowboy and I'm very happy with it. Good quality construction and the carpet matches perfectly.
I spend most of the time with the top down so the deadening properties are not that important. With the roof up it does deaden sound a little but not significantly. It does, however, keep things from rolling back into the trunk and it keeps the roof protected when its stowed. No need to take it out to put the roof down.

I noticed quite a bit of difference in reducing the noise though.
I got mine from a supporting vendor also. I have an 04 ce so it came in shale pleather. The shale is a good match, but other than helping with the stereo when the top is up, I think it's fairly useless. I do like that you can still access the storage bins, some I have seen will inhibit this. I'm also unhappy because it was delivered with a small tear in it. Now I have to pay to ship it back.

Same thing happened to me. I have an 04 CE also and the shale vinyl partition was shipped in a plastic bag. The vinyl had a couple of holes in it and I had to return the partition. I purchased another one from a different vendor, Brian @ corvettepartitions.com. If you have the shale interior this is the way to go. Brian has permission from GM to use the shale carpet and the partition matches the car perfect. The carpet will help more with the noise reduction.
