Default I sent Sumitomo an email...

Just thought some might like to see this.

Dear Sir/Madame,

Are you planning on selling a 285x35x19 size HTR Z ll anytime soon? When
might you be releasing this tire if so?

Thank you,

Burbleflyer

Dear Burbleflyer,

At this time, we have no plans for development of this size in the HTR Z II. We are
currently developing a successor to the Z II to be released next year.

Thank you for your interest in Sumitomo Tire.

Although the news wasn't what you were hoping to hear, at least they responded back to you. Wonder what the next tire will be like.

Here's his answer to my follow up question:

Billy,

At this time, there is no plans to develop this size in the new design due to low industry demand
for that size. I'm sure that wasn't the answer you wanted to hear but that's the truth.

Again, thank you for your support of Sumitomo Tire.

And my last question I just sent, I'll post his answer here when I get it.

Dave,

Sorry to keep bothering you but one last question:

What 19 inch sizes will the new design be offered in?

Thanks,

Billy

I'm running Sumitomo HTR Z ll all round.

275/35/18 front
285/35/18 rear

The fronts look excellent, the rears look tiny (in side profile and from the back).

But the best part is - they absolutely scream when you light them up Love that

I don't think I'll ever buy Sumitomos after the experience we had with our previous wife vehicle. The Sumitomos felt great for the first year (10,000 miles) and rapidly deteriorated after that. Quality was very poor, at best. Maybe they would make for a good autocross tire that you can throw away after every event, but.....
Of course, their regular passenger tires may be completely different from their performance tires, but there are usually similarities among a manufacturers' various types of tires. This is why I would stay away.
For example, three different Goodyear tires have won accolades within the past couple of years - that's a GOOD sign!

I bought them because they were cheap - and I'm going to roast them big time

Here's his answer to my final question:

Billy,

We currently have scheduled 8 19" sizes in the new line. I'm reluctant to provide any
more information since things can change.

Take care,

Dave Dugan
Sumitomo Tire
So it looks like next year there will be 19'' C6 rear tires from Sumitomo.

On a side note, he answered each of my inquiries promptly. Quite a pleasant suprise.

The only thing i would run Sumitomos for would be a burnout competition. Otherwise, on the street, they wear supperfast, they have poor traction, and aren't cheap enough to justify in the long term.

On my previous car (01 Cobra) I had Sumitomos, GSD3s, KDWS, and Comp TAs over its life, and the sumitomos weren't even half as good as any of the others. The only reason I bought them was because they came as a set with new wheels.

GSD3s were the best summer tires I owned, and KDWS allowed me drive in the occasional suprise snow storm (something I could NEVER do on GSD3s even in one inch)
