Default Clear Tail Light Lens Mod

I purchased a set of clear lenses this week from a forum member. I think they are different that's why I want them. There is another member here that has them and he gave me the procedure he used. Jason (jfrc) thanks it worked great. Ok I got started today by smashing the red lenses from the housing. I then used a small grinding wheel on a dremel to get the broken lens particles from the groove that the new clear lens will sit in. After that a small wire wheel on the dremel to clean up the left over red lens. Maybe have 30 minutes into this lens. I will finish the others tomorrow and then install RED Led lights behind the clear lens. Since i'm on nights for a week this won't be completed for a few weeks. Here are some before and after photos.

Looks cool. You should mount the LED's in the shape of the crossed flags on a printed circuit board.

I have no idea what the name of them is. One of the guy's I race with gave them to me last night and the resistors. If these don't work well I will use something else. That said, he's an electronics geek (and member here ) these were going to be on his car so i'm sure they are very good.

Bob, did you check the bulbs? Are they clear or red? I was going to use them with the factory red housings, so they could be clear. But, you can order them from the site I gave you. If you need help doing this after March 18th, give me a call.

I have no idea what the heck color they are. When I get it all wired up i'll check. If they are clear i'll just grab a few red. No big deal as i'm not in any type of rush. Hey are you going to be home Friday afternoon or Saturday? I'll grab that extra R housing then. With the right direstion and the right tools this is very easy.

I get on a plane on Friday at 6:00pm in Fort Lauderdale. Leave straight from work. I get back at 7:00am on the 18th. If you want it earlier, PM me your address and I will mail it to you.

This is what they will look like when complete. This car belongs to Jason (jfrc) here on the forum. His lights are very unique and I had never seen them until his post 2 weeks ago. Shortly after seeing his post, Pacethis (Josh) put the ones I bought up for sale. While they are not for everyone THANKS for the compliments and the KICKS I think they are very different and will give my car that uniqueness many of us look for.

is it legal?

white on white looks AWE-sum

will you use 'red' bulbs?

colored lens to 'paint match' the car would be kewl
(ok, tint on clear to the color of the car and 'red bulbs' for STOPPING) lol

is that the idea?

definately Unique:TheCFMod!

My car is silver so I will not get the same look as Jason above. However, i'm sure it will be very distinctive. Bulbs will be RED Led's. Is it legal?? Well I have no idea at this point. Once it's done i'll walk next door to one of my neighbors (6 on this block are Police or Hwy Patrol) And see what they think. The lens is reflective however it is NOT RED REFLECTIVE.

As long as the bulb is red, it shouldn't be an issue. I have the ProCarParts LED tail lights on my Z and no cop has ever said they were illegal. As long as the brakes and tail lights light up red, Johnny Law shouldn't bother. Can't wait to see them done! Then I won't be the only one out at Moroso with showy stuff on their Vette. BTW, do you think you will get another tenth in your quarter mile time with them? :rlol:
