ummm fellas ... I did the same thing for a long time..and umm just put a new trany in last month ... thank God for after market warrantees! It was not a big deal last summer when I noticed a small drip under then kaslash lol slow out of 1st and small slip in second. Who knows is it the downshifting and all, not sure but though I add to the thread
I was really confident about the shifting until this last reply! The only reason iam not sure is because my whole life all my cars have been standards. Surely I high performance car like a vette is built for this. Thanks for the feedback!

Well... His car is a 1997. Things do wear out you know, with or without shifting.

Rob I’m not saying that it happens to all it depends on the way that you drive, roads, traveling ect.. there are a lot of factors that are probably tossed into it too.
I found out on another thread that my vette was also one of the first 10% that ever rolled off the line in 97 so who knows maybe the transmissions were not 100% at that time also. I just felt to add my 2c in ... its totally inconclusive and merely speculation at this time.
The way I look at, is keep manually shifting or buy a 6-spd? I think I will go with the shifting until the C-6 grows on me and then I will give this car to my wife! I would have given her my C-4 but she has no desire to learn how to drive a stick. The Z06 is next for me I will just have to wait a couple of more years. Thanks to everyone for their input on this.
Gives me the convienance of an Automatic... with the ability to hold the gears for that great exhaust sound. Downside, my engine has done more work over the year... from running at higher RPMs.
