The article did not say who was at fault or whether or not they had on their seat belts. No determination of speed was stated.
Yes a corvette is fast and so are a lot of other cars. Who knows what happened? Maybe there was an animal in the road way that he swerved to get around, who will ever know.
It's not a persons age but rather their common sense that plays a bigger role. I've seen just as many full grown adults as younger adults killed in accidents from driver error or mechanical failure.
Why is everybody so quick to judge around here without knowing the facts.
Most of all I'm sorry for the lost of life that took place and for the parents of these children who will never get to hold, touch or see them again.

God Bless.
What post were you reading when you wrote your above quoted reply?
After reading yours, I went back and read EVERY reply above this one and it's quite a stretch for you to say "I don't know why everybody jumps to conclusions.
The article did not say who was at fault or whether or not they had on their seat belts. No determination of speed was stated."
First off, 95% of the replies here say nothing about blaming the Corvette driver or blaming anyone, but expressing their condolences and sorrows and the article DOES INDEED say none of the 3 kids were wearing seat belts.
Sad story , My cousin asked to borrow my vette for prom a couple of years ago, I could not bring myself to loan it to him. I did loan him my Harley F150 though.................
I have an 18yr old son who asked to drive the Vette to the prom. I said no.. for a lot of reasons. My son is a pretty responsible kid but he is still a kid. He can drive the 91 honda accord wagon just like he's been doing for a year.
In Va, we do have the graduated liscens program. You must have a learners permit for 9 months before you can get your License. And that License is STILL not the regular license one gets upon turning 18 yrs of age.
I dont have the data but I'm pretty sure there has been a reduction in traffic accidents and more importantly, fatalities, to younger drivers.
You should petition your State Legislators to enact similar legislation. Remember the lives you save may be theirs and yours!
"The other victims were Emily Setum, 16, of Plymouth, Minn. -- who was in the same car as Hove -- and Adam Steinmetz, 15, of Mahnomen, Minn. The students weren't wearing seat belts."
My condolences to the families involved in this tragic incident. I, like many others, know first hand the tradegy of losing a child in an accident as my 22 year old son was killed in a boating accident 10 years ago by a 60 year old drunk man.
I have viewed the attachments in previous posts and they clearly state that the Corvette veered into the on coming traffic and the accident site is shown in some of the TV reports. It appears to be a clear straight-a-way where the accident occured. The Corvette was loaned to the 16 year old boy by his God-father.
The above info was all gleaned by reading and watching the newspaper and TV stories about the accident.
Like one poster stated, the teen aged friends will get on with their lives but the parents of the dead teens will suffer tremendous loss and anguish for the rest of their lives.
Three young beautiful teenagers have died because an adult who should have know better, didn't think. Now he'll have to bare this guilt for the rest of his life. Rest in peace.
