Default C5 Seat Types

I understand that there are 2 different types of seats in a C5 Vette. The Standard and the Sport seats. What is the difference and how does one tell them apart. Were they the same from 1997-2004? What I am looking for is the seat that is the most comfortable on a long trip.

Easiest way to tell is the sport seats have a hole in them. I wouldn't say one is more comfortable than the other, but most prefer the sport seats.

You can see the hole in this picture of my car:

I thought the standard seats didn't have all the inflatable bladders in them.

Here is a shot of my sport seat when they were out for new skins. The hole that was mentioned is obvious. Standard seats don't have that. Sport seats have inflatable bladders for the side bolsters and two for the lumbar area.

Here is a photo of the two seat types side by side. The standard seat on the left and the sport seat on the right.

As you can see they are easy to tell apart.

Gary, the sport seats are wonderful on long trips. I have not tried the standard seats, but I "discovered" the air bladders in the used 2001 I bought several days after purchase. After I inflated them to my liking the difference was noticeable - much more comfortable inflated.

I have seen people actually replace their standard seats with sport seats claiming that they are more comfortable. I don't have anything to compare to since I have the sport seats in my car. We find them to be very comfortable as well as very adjustable with inflatable upper and lower lumbar support as well as power adjustable side bolster support.
