Do our Z06 screens really reduce the effectiveness of this intake? It seems it would block a lot of airflow compared to the regular C5's completely open inlets.
Not at all, the screens probably block about 2% of the area, what actually helps is to block off the fog light holes so that air doesn't escape the vararam tract.
better protection... now i dont have to tear the intake apart often looking for leaves, trash or someones cat down the street....
too. especially during the fall season when there are plenty of leaves. Also there is a chance of sucking up other plastic objects ie...grocery bags, those cigarette plastic casings, who knows what else.
Add me to the list. Keeping all the various crap that flies around from being sucked into the V-ram intake is more important than the very minor possible restriction on flow. And I agree on the fog light hole. If you haven't blocked it up, you're losing way more air through that hole than the screens might ever block. But don't plug up the water drain holes. If you get caught in the rain, you'll appreciate that they are there.
either by having your foglight there, or make a plate that covers it up. You can probably use black duct tape if the screen is on. No one would even know its there
