Default tire pressure sensor ?

What happens if you install a set of tires/wheels without the sensors? Does the computer freak out? Does it matter?

You'll just get a message on your DIC indicating "serv. tire mon. sys". Hit reset and your good to go.

Everytime you start the car the service tire monitor will come on.

You have 2 choices. You can just hit reset, or have the system reprogrammed to shut the pressure system off. Now, I remember someone saying the older vettes you can not shut the system off, I do not remember what years they were.

Good luck

Usually it will freak out with a warning which has to be reset each time you start the the car. Sometimes it will do nothing and just have blanks where the pressure numbers would be on the DIC. There are many threads on this subject.

With a '99, he can't program the message out of the computer. You will just get the message each time you start the car up and will have to hit the reset button to clear it.

That being said, I would recommend installing the sensors in the wheels - nice to know what pressure is in the tires and when there might be a problem.

You really want to put sensors in the wheels, without a spare tire, early warning of a slow leak will allow you to add some air to get you home...with out them you will only know when your car becomes unstable..

Yes, but there's only one problem...you won't be able to disable the traction control/active handling. This happened to me at the track. It was like I was driving around the track while dragging a lead anchor behind the car...the active handling kept kicking in, all the time, because it thought there was a flat tire.

When I throw my winter wheels on without sensors on my '98, no message comes up when starting. Only time comes on sometimes is when I go on Hwy for some time, them message comes on and just clear error after. Never happens on city driving...done this for 3 winters.
