I don't know if it matters that its FWD or RWD. I'm no pro, but I believe it has more to do with the suspension setup than the powered wheels, although the added compression braking may not have helped. From what I understand, Honda accepted that the S2K was setup far too aggressively for the street and the suspension was more redesigned than retuned. They altered not only the dampening and spring rates, but also redesigned the geometry to increase cornering stability (more toe-in in a turn). You guys that have actually driven one hard can attest to how much it was just "dumbed down" rather than retuned, but I was really just making a comment about the insurance.

BTW... tuner FWD cars are actually often setup w/ far more oversteer dialed in than RWD cars, as they can only induce understeer w/ power. You're probably right about some of the young boy racers though.

Absolutely right about the FWD cars with proper setup suspensions. I had a few Corrado's and I have friends who had ITR's (none of them were stock). You could easily get the rear to come around if you lift throttled in a turn.

The only difference is it was much less violent and much more predictable. It was a slow slide out vs the snap that can occur on certain RWD cars. If you don't expect the snap, it will get you into a ton of trouble if you can't correct it properly.

I test drive a cute little S2000 last summer. It was used. The only reason for that was thinking about trying to help finances from the high Corvette payment. Just to help. I was so disappointed in the Honda. No power there despite the salesman sitting next to me saying,
" Isn't the pick up great? Feel the power it has." When they told me my trade in value on my Vette, I was actually happy it sucked so I would not be tempted. I then got back in my Vette, and then I FELT THE POWER!

The S2000 only gets marginally better gas mileage around town (may 21-22 vs 18-20 in the 'vette).

I think they're both great cars and both look great (and contrary to many opinions, I think the C6 is a great-looking car too).

But if it were me, I'd keep the 'vette simply because it's a slightly more practical car. You can get more stuff in it.
A friend of mine with an S2000 actually gets the same mileage around town that I do. Not a whole lot of stop and go around here like you would get in Dallas or LA though.
