Thanks everyone,
I have an '02 MN6, so I'll have the clb installed. I know you say it's easy to do, but I freak out when I see those pictures with parts taken off! I appreciate the great advice.
My wonderful wife gave the the new model Ripper for my birthday, so I'll let everyone know how it performs.
C'mon man, the CLB is remove 4 screws, unplug connector, plug in CLB, replace 4 screws...period. Trust us, you can do it!
I put in a CLB six years ago,,,, it is the way to go...
with respect to the column lock issue, the first mistake you can make is taking it to the dealer to fix this, the second thing is letting them touch your car...
This is the sixth attempt to fix this issue...even before the first recall.. dont ask me how I know,,,

Another vote for CLB - why tie the car up at the dealership service department, risk all the headaches associated with the car being there and finally to continue to encounter problems and issues. This is so simple, that even I can give you the right answer.
As far as doing the work yourself - the only way you are ever going to gain any confidence about your own skills and the car is to do simple things like this yourself. Start small....
Yes, do the clb yourself. But if you don't want to and are concerned about the labor.......it took my mechanic 20 minutes to install it and cost about $30. Do it.
Could you please tell us where the relay is and whether the CLB neds to be re-installed or will things function fine by just pulling the relay?
The GM relay is in the same place where a CLB would be installed - under the steering wheel. Once removed you should be good. If you already have a CLB, you can install it in place of the relay, if you like, but I sold my CLB after the GM relay was removed, and I have not had a problem since.
Offer a local Vette owner a beer to help you. That's all it would take, one beer, because the job will be done before he could finish one beer...even if he's chugging it, ha, ha.
There's so much more risk of your car getting messed up if you take it to a dealers/mechanic, i.e. grease on the seats/carpet, joy riding, doing burnouts, scratching or breaking interior plastic trim. You are much safer and have much more control by doing it yourself.
Did the recall (updated one) recently through a very reputable Vette friendly Chevy dealer...also I'm 100% stock, no tune....so I went the dealer route
I had the most current recall done. The locking pin is removed during this recall, so there is no chance of the column locking. It went fine and I've had no problems. By the way, I have an mn6. Zuti
I did the same but now I am hearing that the new recall has relay issues and I am keeping my fingers crossed. If you already have the CLB kit I would try that first.

GM does Not have a fix for this.. the new harness has issues, now your column wont lock but your fuel could shut off while driving and leave you stranded in the middle of a six lane highway...
Ocne the dealer reflashes your PCM, you will be prone to fuel shut off ...its just the latest wrinkle in the column lock saga..this is happening every day with the latest fix.
