Car Envy
Last night on the way home from work, had a guy with obvious Corvette envy revving at me. Was at a 4 way stop intersection (541 and Oak Shade Road, about 5 miles from Atco for you south jersey types) and there was an SRT-8 Charger sitting there. Dude revved, screeched the tires leaving the intersection, and stared at me the ENTIRE time. I just laughed and thought to myself "You know, that would be a nice car if they didn't try to pawn it off as something it's not."
At least I don't have to worry about replacing the tranny every 500 miles.

Well.....425 HP or not..........those things are pigs. WAAAAAY to heavy. I dunno.....how would a stock C5 fare against a stock (although this one had to have an exhaust because it definitely was nice sounding and LOUD) SRT-8 Charger? I think the C5 would walk on it but that's just me.

13.5 quarter mile, looks a little slower than a base bone stock c5. Honestly, i'd be suprised to see that car actually run that time. But either way, still slower than a C5. NTM WAY UGLIER!
Plus, they're well over 4000lbs!!! I bet those things corner like Expiditions.

I had a guy in a (admittely pretty cool-looking) magnum SRT harassing me a few weeks ago. But you know, having a Corvette is about so much more than raw speed. Even if I were inclined to do something as dumb as give him a run, I'd still get a better feeling from driving a C5 than a station wagon.

I was cruising on the local interstate last Saturday when 3 guys on Japanese sport bikes came flying up beside me. They slowed to match my speed and tried to get me to run them. I smiled at them and waved. They got bored and sped off. That would have been a good way to get someone killed or arrested.

Tells me how fast it is
So my wife tells him i have a vette and that he is wasteing his time. So he tells me that it will eat my vette for lunch. Funny how even a sales person can think that a four thousand pound tank with 425 hp Hemi could take even a stock vette. But then again we see it everyday on the streets don't we

I think they all watch to many "It's got a Hemi" commercials.
I get told all the time how I should "watch out" for the new chargers with the Hemis!!!

NTM Make the acceleration of your Corvette feel inadequate.I cruise around all the time with my two best friends. Both on Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6Rs (636cc) If they gun it, or start actin crazy (Which is pretty typical for 20 somethins on motorcycles...
) i just hang back and watch, cause i know theres pretty much no way i'm going to keep up...But anyways back on subject, IMO C5 > Charger no contest.
However, the 2009 Challenger with the same engine (SRT-8) stands up to the C5 in the looks department IMO. I like where dodge is going there, WAY better than the Charger. C5 is still Better though, but a much closer call. The Challenger's actual performance is yet to be seen...
And i won't even talk about the new Camaro...
A lot of times when folks stare at my car, or Rev their engines at me, i'll usually give them a Rev back so they can hear the Bullets.
But these days you gotta watch out... just reving the engine can be 'Instigating a Street Race' which can get you a ticket... 
I had a guy in a Dodge Minivan w/ a Hemi rev at me...
so i reved back... he smiled and waved... pretty funny stuff. Dan

About a year ago - right after those Magnums came out - I went to a detailing clinic put on by Meguiars. This was open to a lot of clubs, so it wasn't just Vettes. As I'm walking away from my poor old pathetic stock '98, this doofus comes up to me to tell me that his car is a lot like mine - it has 345 HP, 4 wheel discs, blah,blah,blah.
I told him - "I hate to burst your bubble, bud....but has anyone mentioned that you have a freakin' station wagon?"
