What do you attach the tie downs to when trailering a C5. The trailer is an open flat bed dove tail model. Also are there any tricks to putting the car on the trialer with the car being so low to the ground. Any information would be appreciated.
Tie to somewhere you can tighten the suspension down just a little, this will avoid any moving of the car. To both rjung and ajg1915...with all due respect to both of you, tying the car through the wheel openings is perhaps the most unsafe way to secure a vehicle on a towing trailer or rollback. I drive a flatbed rollback and tow cars so I know I can speak on this subject and that's a big no-no unless you have the proper straps that go the whole way around the entire wheel and tire. Be careful!
The four slots that we use for the jacking points are used by the car haulers to transport the C5. I don't know what they hook into the slots. Hopefully someone here on the forum will chime in.

They are called T Hooks and can be obtained from any company that services the wrecker industry. I bought mine from CW Direct.
As for getting the car onto the trailer you need some long ramps. When I bought my trailer with a beaver tail it came with 4 ft ramps. I modified them with some 7 inch high rails on one end so they became part of a 2 ramp system that gave me a total length of 10 ft. The new 6 ft section bridges from the back of the trailer to the high end of the original 4 ft ramps. Also be careful of the trailer fender. Some trailers have their bed mounted too low thus preventing the car door from opening once you have the car on the trailer. You can use a 10 ft long piece of 2x8 under the left side tires to lift the drivers side so you can get out of the car.
This is a link to the Northern Tool catalog for the "T" tie down hooks. the "T" end goes into the 4 slots on the bottom of the rocker panels. You will also need 4 tie down straps 6000 lb or better strength with locking end hooks on each end. Get ones that are at lease 10-12 foot long. Tie the front straps down straight to the trailer D hooks and the rear in an X pattern cross wise to the D hooks. This pattern will keep the car from shifting side to side. I apply the emergency brake but always leave the car in neutral to avoid any driveline shock due to bouncing of the trailer. Get or build a set of ramps of sufficient length and strength to make the drive on easy.

AKA J-Hooks...depending upon who you're talking to...never heard of CW Direct but I got J-Hooks (or T) from AWDirect Recently...www.awdirect.com. Good luck!
The four slots everyone is talking about are they the ones you put the pucks in on both sides just before the rear wheels and just after the front ones to jack the car up to changed tires?
