Perhaps a stupid question, but I've never gotten a satisfactory (to me at least) answer. How does a "driving" light (typically aftermarket or auxiliary) differ from a regular headlight? I assume the beam pattern would be different than the headlight's low beam? High beam? Could you use a driving light in lieu of a regular headlight, or would this cause problems for other drivers? I know some people have remarked that they use their PIAA 1100X lights rather than the headlights, but is this an acceptable substitute under all conditions?
TIA.
A driving light gives a sharp, thin light that goes out further than your high beams, they are suppose to supplement your high beams. PIAA 1100X are driving lights.
Fog lights have a wide beam that extends out to the sides. They are set to be slightly lower in height than your low beams. They are meant to supplement your low beams to increase vision in bad weather.
Neither lights should be used alone, nor should driving lights be used with low beams or fog lights with high beams.
