I have been having an issue with my dual climate control read out. I will have to tap on it to see the temp and mode and then it will dim completely out. Anyone know why?

I have an '02. And, the same thing started happening to me about three months ago. I was told that this problem is fairly common and the display will eventually disappear from view. A weak wire connection inside the unit. The fix is to replace the whole unit. I do have an extended warranty. But, the prospect of having the dealership "ripping" into my dash has convinced me to live with it as long as posssible.
Very common for this to happen. Happened to me 2.This is usually because of faulty connections on the back of the unit. It can be fixed by using the instructions found here on the forum or you can get one reworked from ebay for about $50.Use the search engine and you will find info on how to fix this problem yourself if you are mechanically inclined. It takes a while and requires a soldering torch.

Type in to the Forum search box, climate control dim and you will find a wealth of info on the fix.
Will get you the needed leads to get it fixed
Beware of the dealerships. They quoted me over $700.00 to fix. You can buy the new part (Control Module) for Less than $190.00 from Fred Beans Parts. Book labor is .9 hrs. 5 bolts and a couple electrical connectors and you have it fixed youurself.
I have repaired two different units using instructions on this forum. Takes about 1 to 2 hours. Problem is cold solder joints on a flat resistor. Just touch each end of 8 resitrors. and reassemble, or spend hundreds at shop...
Do like the other members suggest and use the search function. There are quite a few threads with pics telling how to fix this. I'll post the thread I have saved (and will reference myself this weeked) when I get back to my home computer.

If you are not skilled with soldering a circuit board....
A CF member David Ruberg ( Mandigital) will fix it for about $50 including the return shipping and a 5 year guarantee.
