Is it the in-dash player?
Is it only with one CD or all CD's.

If it happens only with one I would say that it is the CD itself. I've had my changer balk at a couple of CD's that I burned.

Once after my battery went dead and I had to jump start the car. It took about 5 minutes then it started working again.

Same thing happened in my Silverado and I had to replace the whole unit or pay to have it repaired.

Did you check to see if the CD was placed in the cartridge correctly? I goofed and placed the CD upside down.It made it real hard for the player to function correctly.

Unplug the power to the changer, then plug it back in. Sometimes that resets it.

Mine does that when I add a new CD to the cartridge. I take it back out, slide out the tray with the new CD in it, slide it back in and it works fine. Don't ask me why.

I have the problem with the dash unit, I don't have the cassette unit in the back of the car.
I only have store bought CDs, It has the same "error" with any of the CDs I try.
Thanks to everyone trying to help me solve this problem!

It happened to me last week, my windows had been opened while I was parked and my wide says... the CD player has gotten humidity in it.. yeah, right... it's hard enough for ME to find the thing and she's telling me "humidity".

So I turn on the heater and drive for a few minutes... SOB, the thing started working & has been fine since !... Go figure !!!! Good luck with yours.

I've got the changer in the rear and it's been pretty touchy ever since I got the car. It plays without hitch about 80% of the time, the other 20% it will give you an error message when you first try to play a Cd. If you switch back and forth between the radio and cd it will eventually go ahead and play. And once it starts playing it never skips or stops. It seems to be the most touchy on really hot days. That's just my experience though.

DId you unplug the CD Player and plug it back in? This should allow it to reset. This happened once and that is what I did. The unit reset and has been fine ever since! Knock on wood!

Happens with my in-dash unit everytime. The routine is...

1. Insert CD
2. ERR
3. Eject
4. Repeat about 10 times and then it starts working.

PITA!!!!
