I smoked one at the track in San Antonio with my C4 earlier this year. My C4 is an A4 with 3.07 rear gears and a few mods. Best I ran in it was 13.4. My C4 put down 272 RWHP. Your C5 should easily walk away from him.
I traded a 04 Z for my 01 A4............ not even in the same class; you will beat him without much effort.
I have a similar situation with a guy that just bought an SRT 4. Every time I see him I have to hear how he will walk me. He thinks because of the turbo it is the fastest car on the street. I have never been to the track and I won't street race so I guess I will just have to keep listening.
From what I have read on the 350 Z forums, the SRT is a close race with the Z. I keep telling him to research the numbers but he prefers to talk smack.
I guess if I get tired of hearing his crap, I might have to break my track cherry.
You raised a good point: as I'm a daily driver in heavy traffic, am I better going from a 2.73 to 3.18 or 3.42? I don't intend to race...very much.
3:42 is a good ratio for the daily driver. Going up one higher isn't bad either (3:73?) but when you get into the 3:90 and 4:10....yeah, THAT's fun!! but not really practical for the daily driver.
I knew a guy at work who traded a Porsche Boxster for a new 350Z. I gave him a hard time and said to him that he sure likes those wimpy wannabe sports cars. He didn't like that comment too much.
My neighbor's buddy just bought a new stock 350Z and says it would destroy my vette (03, A4, 325 RWH, Axle ratio 2.73) in the quarter mile Is this true? What if I changed the ratio to 3.42...noticeable difference?
I went from 2.73's to 3.42's
and yes it is a HUGE difference.
Even with 2.73's youd beat the hell out of a 350 z
I've been driving Z's for years and ended up trading my 350Z after one year for my 98 A4 2.73. You'll do just fine. He's actually in worse shape being in an 06 Z rather than an 04 like I had. Nissan changed a couple of things between these years that increased HP from 287 to 300, but at the sacrifice of low-end torque.
He's going to lose by 1 car at the 60' and it'll only get better for you.
let us (or at least me) know.
Exactly...........
Now a 300ZXTT...that's a different animal. I had a stage 4 before the C5...they were scary!

I also had the 300zxTT
In its day it would have destroyed my 3.15 geared 1990 c4, which only put out 245 at the crank.
The Z ( which i traded the vette for) put out 300 with two turbos, 4 wheel hicas steering.
It would go thru a set of tires every 10k- 14k miles, which made me hate the car.
I regretted trading the vette, but the TT z would out perform the c4.
My current vette would chew it up for lunch, then spit it out thru the rear left magnaflow pipe.

I also have been a Z guy. Loved them my whole life. Had 2 280's and a 300ZXTT. Traded in my beloved 300 for my current C5 A4 with 2.73's. The power difference was astounding.
Dont worry, you shall CRUSH that 350Z. I have the same setup as you and while I dont pick fights...Ive had two 350Z owners INSIST that I hand them their grapes. It was almost cruel. I felt like I was playing with them. There was no question which car out accelerates the other.
I cant wait to switch to 3.73's! Then its save up for my Maggie! Power corrupts, kids!
Have fun! Be safe!~~~~JadeDragon
BTW: On the 300ZX TT Tire issues...I had the same thing! I had flats due to worn tires constantly. I wonder why? It was only strong enough to briefly chirp the rear wheels on takeoff. Was it the HICAS causing strange outer wear on the treads??

I have raced them in my 95 Z28 A4 back in the day and put a couple cars on them EASY...... You will walk away from him badly...People dont realize how much 1 sec in the quarter mile really is!!! If you take it to the track you very well could beat him by 10 cars+
They are nice cars but if you can drive, you shouldn't have a problem wtih them. I would say the best they run in the 1320 stock is 13.9 with the average being around a 14.2ish.
