Just installed a Blackwing and noticed where the filter is located in regards to the hood when raised. It looks to me that if you had water on the hood, and raised the hood, the water would drain right into the filter. Has anyone noticed this?
Yes, I have the halltech stinger intake, and the filter sits in the same spot also and is open like the Blackwing... I have had this happen before and just take towel and lightly dab it off...or just let the car sit for a while til it dries....so long as there is not a huge puddle of watter or it does not get sprayed direclty with the hose, you'll be fine.
I've got the Halltech too....no problems with water so far, open or shut. However, one thing IMHO you may consider is the aftermarket hood seal (Eckler's sells one....) that runs along under the front edge of the hood. This at least seals it up over the filter with the hood closed..........they also claim that it better forces air through where the filter is located....don't know about that claim
Not a problem since this is not a paper filter - have you actually laid hands on it?
Mine has been on for two years and I'm not careful or concerned about it getting wet - if that was an issue it would have been an enclosed type and not an open type. I would get that front hood seal though.
