Yeah - you definitely need it. But fear not - it's pretty cheap & easy to install. Follow the instructions on 97 Vette link - took me 45 min.

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I got a new car!

My name is Mike, and I am 18 years old. I have owned a Mustang GT for the 2 years I have been driving now and it was my first car. I am currently a senior in High School and will be attending college next year.

The story is, that basically my dad has always wanted a Corvette. Long story short, he started talking about one, and this was his only shot, with my help with funding by selling my car to my brother, to get his Corvette NOW (Hes 50) instead of when he is 65 and probably won't want one anymore. He suprised me this morning as we took a car ride a put a deposit on a 2000 Yellow Convertible Corvette. The car is officially mine, my mustang is going to my brother who has always wanted one, so it worked out perfectly. My dad and I am basically splitting the cost, and I will owe him a little money after college to make it mine completely. So needless to say, Im really excited. Its one hell of a step up from my Mustang GT.

Now about the car: Its a 2000 C5 Yellow Convertible Corvette
(We are picking it up Monday Night)

- 5,563 Miles
- Z51 Package
- Sport Transmission
- Chrome 5 spoke wheels 17's front 18's rear
- Its pretty much brand new, the guy never drove it... And only on perfect days, so it looks amazing.

I have learned A LOT about my mustang, because I have always been brought up on them as a sports car. Getting this Corvette is like a dream for my family, and I don't know too much about them. Thats exactly why I am here - I want to learn as much as possible about my cars, as I am a sports car enthusiast.

Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself. I will post pictures ASAP when I actually get the car. Im really excited, and so is my dad, Im really happy for him too, this has been a dream of his as well.

Ill make a new thread, I just have some questions about the car and whatnot, so I can start learning.

Thanks Guys,

-Mike
Good luck...its great to get these things when your young...most of all respect the power!

Welcome to the forum. I bet it seems a little diffferent than the Mustang boards. Congratulations on the car. It sounds identical to mine except I've got an '04 with about 17,000 more miles than you. I hope you and your Dad rack up tons of happy memories together. You don't mention where you are. You might want to look in the CF events section and find some local Vette events to share with your family and meet some of the nuts from here.

Thanks again guys, Im so excited to be a part of these forums already.

I am located in New Jersey, Bergan County to be exact. Let me know if any of you guys are around my area, that would be pretty cool. We have little shows around here that I used to go with to check out, but never really had the car to show off... Now I do!

This summer is going to be extremely fun, I can tell already. Im more of a street fun guy, who wants a powerful street car, and I also love to go to shows. Not really into the "Strip" one because I don't really know of any around here.

I heard a story from a guy on mustangforums who owns a Corvette... He said him and his wife road through about 2 states from one car show to another with about 30-40 other Vettes... Said it was the most fun he has ever had in his life. I was just picturing that, and it seems awesome.

I can't WAIT to get this car!!

Easy,........easy there big guy! OK,.......you have two very IMPORTANT things going for you right now! (1) Time, you have lots of TIME to read and ask questions (2) This forum Sir,...you as of now have a wealth of imformation plus the ability to get spacific anwsers ! on this site we are just a little longer in the tooth and likely as not your anwsers will be well balanced! OK OK,.......Now for just something to study, try LS1 howto.com Ya,.see It just gets better and better there are some things to avoid like LS1tech.com. These bad apples are much younger (for the most part) I say this becouse how many guys your age have,..........FREEKING CORVETTES???????? These young men for the most part have diseasd minds (not unlike mine!) There are REAL pitfalls out there just waiting for young people like yourself The most common, MOD. Adiction,........(realy) witch is the sure path to financal ruin!..................... Im actualy NOT joking

Haha believe me I am already ADDICTED.

Just threw a full exhaust system on my mustang and was planning on getting new tires and wheels before my dad told me we were getting the Vette.

It has already started for me, and... I am already addicted. It will keep me busy for a while though just learning about the Vette, because I really don't know too much about them, especially the LS1 engine. I am still stuck on my 2V 4.6L, lol.
