I'm new to the board and am about to make my first vette purchase. Looking at two cars. One is a 2000 coupe automatic with 14,000 miles bowling green with oak interior and magnesium wheels. Other car is a 2002 convertible automatic with 10,000 miles and chrome wheels, white with oak interior. Both have been independently inspected and are in pristine condition. Neither is a Z06 but both have most other major options. Both have clean title and carfax histories. I live in Texas and any insight or suggestions anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Are their any major red flags popping up????
I really appreciate your help and look forward to continued dialogue.
Given the two choices, I'd go with the 2002 white vert. It's 2 years newer and has less miles, plus it's a vert. When I was looking for mine I went with the newest/least mileage car I could afford and find at the time.
Boy! you'll find hard core opinions on three sides here. Coupe, hard top, and convertable owners here on this forum. I have a convertable since Feb. and love it. But, I'm more of a cruiser. I drive on weekends around town or day trips close to home. Make shure which car has heads up display, very cool option. I'm sure you'll enjoy which ever one you buy. One last note, I'm looking forward to my first parade with girl riding on top(of car), can't do that without a vert!!
Tracks are not Vert friendly ... for safety reasons that insist on a welded in roll bar....
So if track days are in your plans I'd lean to the coupe or FRC.

This is totally a no brainer - unless you plan to track the car in a HPDE, go with the convertible. The fact that it's newer with less mileage only makes it that much more obvious.
Seriously, white cars are a dime a dozen in Texas because of the heat. The BGM, or any dark color may take a beating in the heat if you don't keep up with the paint protection. Decisions, decisions. As for the 2 years newer with no mileage being a no brainer.... I'm sure there's a price differential as well.
