This morning when I stared my baby, I heard a squeaky sound from the engine compartment. I popped the hood and the squeak sounds like it’s coming from the belt…..After a few minutes the sound disappeared. Should I be concerned??? Is this the start of some potential problem??? Anyone else experience this???? Thanks in advance for your replies and responses.
you may want to do a search of the forums for more on this. unfortunately this is not entirely uncommon on the c5. ours does it till it warms up (despite a brand new belt) then once it's warm, no noise whatsoever except the music from the exhaust pipes. bub
Go to NAPA, Autozone or parts store (NOT THE DEALERSHIP) and buy a tentioner and a new belt. 30 minute job, and you will solve your problem. 9 out 10 times it's the tentioner and a belt. The idealer pully is also sometimes the problem, but not as common as the tentioner. believe me, very very easy to replace the belt and the tentioner.

I did a search and from what I could find it could be anything from the harmonic damper to the serpentine pulley to the serpentine belt to the damper to the tensioner. Any easy way to tell what it maybe without having to replace each component?
Did you notice the noise after you had washed the car or water could have gotten in the engine compartment. Sometimes that will cause a squeek from the belts. Try some spray silicone on the belts and see if the noise stops.

More than likely the belts, but it doesn't hurt to do the tensioner. I replaced JUST the belts on mine (with GATORBACKS) at about 30,000 miles and haven't had a single problem (now over 50,000) since. The beauty of these cars is it's so easy (and fun) to work on and the parts are cheap! Best of luck!

Definitely buy the Gatorbacks. It's the only thing that made the squeak go away.
