I have been in the LT1 FBody game for several years now. I am currently in the market for a C5 Vette. Could you guys tell me anything to look for when purchasing one? Any trouble problems? Perticulars? One of the cars I am interested in is a 97 with higher miles. I have been on FBody message boards for years but have generally ignored LS1 information since it didn't apply to me. How do LS1's hold up at 100 thousand miles plus? Anything specific for the 97 model year I need to be aware about? All help is appreciated!
This came up not too long ago and I saved the post. Poster number 6 has a lot of useful info for you. Best of luck, hope to see your new ride on here soon!

The common rule is to buy the lowest mileage, latest model you can afford. I would not hesitate to purchase a low mileage older car, over a high mileage newer car - all other things being equal. I have a '98 convertible that has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. I love it and wouldn't trade it for a new one.

Welcome. Having had LT1 C4s I can tell you that you will love the LS1. Hope you get one soon. Lt1s are great but...if you research carefully and pick the right one you won't regret the next step to the LS1.
I bought a low mileage 97 Coupe (11K!!) for cheap. Very happy with it. The usual glitches like fuel gauge intermittent malfunction and a leaky fuel filter have been my only problems so far. All the recalls and service bulletins have been done by the previous owner.I'd say the LS1 has a proven reliability record and wouldn't be surprised to see them with 250K with regular service. the LS1 is a better engine than the legendary LT1 in most peoples opinion.
