Does anybody have an issue with getting their car tuned with LS1 Edit and having their tuner lock it! I am concerned about this issue since I am going to have my car tuned at 21st Muscle cars on Friday and they do lock the PCM? I have no reason why anything would need to be adjusted, but what if my heads or cam goes bad. I have to go all the way back to Texas to get it tuned again. I am active Duty Military and I travel quit often so I don't think I should have to do that!
Well I am having that issue right now, it is kind of a pain as if/when you decide to do any changes to your car it becomes a MAJOR hassle!!
For example I am located in Calgary Alberta Canada, LPE tunes their cars to run on 93 octane, I can only get 91 at 98% of the stations around me so I have pinging issues...................needless to say my tuner up here can not adjust for that so I have to drive clear across town to fill up!!
Also I am getting a meth injection kit put in...........once again my tuner cant advance the timing more to get the full potential out of the meth kit.
So as you can see it has been a major pain for me!! However I do understand their reasoning too as they have spent a lot of time on developing their tunes and tricks of the trade for other to have easy access to!!

Get another tuner. Any tuner that locks your PCM is not worth dealing with.
Look at it this way - they can keep a copy of your tune (it's just a 512k file), and if they tune your car - and you change it afterwards and then claim that their tune caused a problem, they can compare the tune they did to what's in your PCM and see if any changes were made.
I understand why they may want to lock it ("trade secrets" etc.) but tuning any EFI car is not rocket science.
Tuners that lock PCMs are not on the level, IMHO.

It sounds as though you're not sure. Have you ask 21CMC if they lock the PCM? They are a great shop, and will surely tell you.
