What the heck?
So I am driving to go play hockey today and my Check Engine light comes on. I drive my Z like a granny it has 50k on it and wondering is this about time for something to go out. Anything I should look for? Advice would be great!http

Use the procedure documented in the C5 Tech Tips section to obtain the diagnostic codes from the DIC.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=26&TopicID=1
Once you get the codes, if it still isnt obvious what the problem is, post the codes back here and someone will likely be able to point you in the right direction.
If you had just gotten gas, could be something as minor as a mis-aligned gas cap.

Don't plotz. I've been driving mine with the stupid CES light on for almost two years. Check code and reset, there's 99.9% chance of it being no big deal.

The pcm monitors the fuel tank pressure sensor in order to determine the level of vacuum/pressure in the EVAP system. The pcm commands both the EVAP Purge Solenoid and the EVAP Vent Valve ON when the conditions for running the DTC are met in order to apply an engine vacuum to the EVAP system. The pcm commands the EVAP Purge Solenoid OFF once the system has reached a predetermined level of vacuum. The EVAP system should HOLD the vacuum in the sealed system. The pcm sets this DTC in order to indicate a small leak if the EVAP system fails to hold a predetermined level of vacuum for a predetermined length of time. This DTC sets after failing the above test twice.
Possible causes:
Loose, incorrect, defective or missing fuel tank cap
Disconnected, improperly routed, kinked or damaged EVAP system purge lines
A damaged EVAP system component
A loose, missing,or damaged service port dust cap and/or schrader valve.

Now what
So If I tighten my cap will that turn the Check Engine Light off or is there something I need to do?
.....and what if it is not the cap....is it something I can fix myself?

I got lucky.... That is the frist place I would start... make sure it is tight and not broken... If that does not solve the code probelm I would move to the next steps
