I was just wondering if this is normal: when all the doors are closed and the windows are up, i have to give the hatch a pretty good slam to get both catches to close...when the doors are open or the windows down the hatch almost closes itself. Plus, sometimes when i slam the hatch, the change in air pressure causes one of the windows to pop over the roof retainer...any thoughts?
Don't SLAM the hatch. Gently push it down with some weight.
I've never heard of this either... is this "valve" located on the floor portion or the rear wall of the trunk?

The valve is located on the side wall panel, immediately behind (to the rear of) the driver's side wheel well. All C5s (coupes, verts, FRC/Z06s) have them. The one on our car looks like the valve frame is made of whitish plastic and is approximately 4" square. When you pull the side carpet back, you should see it. Sorry, don't have any pics.
Edit: Actually, I do have a pic. See my post below.
Although it's not very good, I did find this pic from when I was adding sound deadening to our car. If you look at the very left side of the pic, not quite mid way down (to the rear of the top of the wheel well), you will see the relief valve. The frame of the valve is more rectangular than square as I first described and it is grayish in color in this pic.

You learn something new every day ! Thanks for explaining what that is. I don't see how the "valve" could possibly malfunction - its not so much a valve as as air passage. I pulled back the carpet to see if the carpet was resticting the airflow, but that seemed to have little effect. I have the same problem as kawboy --- if I slam the hatch, the windows pop out from the roof seal ---- took me a while to figure out how rain was getting in the car --- if I closed the doors then the hatch, the windows would pop out --- then if it rained, water would get in the car

It has been sometime since I've looked at the pressure relief valve, and I couldn't remember exactly how it and the flaps were constructed. In looking at it again and the GM Service Manual, I have to agree with you in that I don't see much either that could go wrong with the valve itself to prevent air passage. My other thought was that perhaps some obstruction was preventing air flow through the valve. Too, the valve and its location don't appear to be of the best design and one would think that the carpet would restrict some air flow to the valve. But then, you said you had pulled back the carpet and found this to have little effect.
Also, I would think that the larger surface area of the coupe hatch would generate quite a bit more cabin air pressure and a problem that is much more prevalent to the coupe. Anyway, now that the folks know that the valve is there, perhaps one of the innovative people on this Forum may come up with a solution for you coupe owners. Best of luck to you guys.

One thing i found to help that problem is changing the window angle...i had a little more wind noise than i liked, and had to fix a window rattle anyways, so i tilted the top of the window inwards a little bit while i was in there. Not only did the wind noise decrease (and no more tiny drip when it pours), but the window doesnt pop over the retainer quite so much any more....only does it on the driver side now. i guess ill just keep to the latch and press method on the hatch.

With the windows up and the doors closed, mine does the same thing. There is just a lot of pressure inside the car. I just gently lay my hatch down and then push firmly on the emblem and it closes.
