How hard is it to install the Elite Engineering Tunnel Reinforcment plate? I don't have a lift and I'm not an ace mechanic by any means. I wanted to investigate a wicked rattle that I think might be coming from under the plate. Is it difficult to remove and replace this plate??
Not sure if its against the rules to post the reply..but if it is..just PM me. I'm looking for an aluminum, ceramic coated, blue plate (powder coat or anodized) ..Do you make them with all those "options" and if so how much?
Thanks for the link. I've seen this site and I was confussed if you could get a ceramic coated plate that is powder coated?
It just lists a standard price and doesn't say anything about thickness or coatings. If its all the same price..I want the 3/8" blue ceramic coated plate for $195.

Maybe I can help clarify. Our most popular tunnel plates are the ceramic coated versions. Not only do they stiffen the chassis, but they are specially coated to help reduce the heat transfer into the cabin area. 98% of the plates we sell are ceramic coated.
The powder-coated plates are for cosmetic reasons only. They do not offer the same heat shielding as the ceramic plates. The coloring is for appearance only.
The $195.00 price is for powder-coating one of our 1/4" aluminum tunnel plates only.
I hope that helps, if not I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have.
One of the best/quickest/cost-effective mods I did. The chassis stiffness is definitely there, but the real nice thing was the heat reduction. I keep my garage door opener in the console and every time I come home I'm still amazed at how much cooler the console floor is. I don't even notice any heat in the tunnel next to my leg now.
As far as installation, VERY easy (an air ratchet makes removing the old quicker, but it's not necessary). I did mine when doing a header install, but the stock system comes on/off pretty easy. Three nuts on each stock exhaust manifold, two hanger bolts on front/back each, then 36 (I think) screws on the plate itself.
Here's a couple of shots from my install. Jeff was great to work with and I'm really pleased with the product. Good luck!
