Default Side Vent Screen Install

Getting my side vent screens in the mail any day now (from vetteshop.cc), how did those who have them install them?

Do the front wheels really have to be removed?

Also, is it obvious which side is left / right?

Yep...looks like it to me. I just got mine in today so we are in the same boat. I read or heard (I forget which) someone say that if you turn the wheels sharp enough you can remove the section of inner fender well you need to get to the side vents. I really don't see how but I guess anything is possible if your arms and hands are small enough. I'll be putting mine in this weekend so if you hear of a better way please post.

Hi, Chris. I have installed the screens with the tires on and with them off. Taking the tires off is a lot easier for me. You will be able to tell which side goes where as the long side will only go one way on the inside of the fender. Any problems, just post here and someone will respond. Good luck with the install.

You can do it with the tires on no problem. Just crank the wheel hard and you should have enough room to undo the screws and get your hands in to place the screens. If you have really big paws you might want to take off the wheels. Make sure you use a quality double sided tape and you should be good to go.

I installed mine a year ago. Take the wheels off and remove the wheel well liner to get to the inside of the fender. The two sided tape that comes with the screens only lasted about 9 months then they started to get loose. I took the wheels and well liners off again and mixed up some two part epoxy that you can get at the auto parts store, removed the two sided tape and held them in place while the epoxy dried. Now the are very tight and look great. Save yourself the trouble of having to do the job twice, and use something other than the two sided tape. Good luck

Wheels off is much easier.

My tape lasted about a month. I pulled it all off and used some household epoxy. They won't budge now.

definately use some epoxy to hold them on. That tape will not hold very long. I went ahead and removed the wheels. It gave me plenty of room to work.

Stainless Steel gill screens painted gloss black.

Use small plastic blocks with double sided emblem tape to secure - tape alone will not hold for long.

Default screen install

I installed mine about a week ago. The only thing that I can add is to bend them a little here and there to make them fit exactly without any pressure. Mine came with small blocks to attach with double sided tape. From the above posts, I may be reattaching them in the near furture. If you take the wheels off, don't forget to torque them to 100 ft/lbs.

I took the wheels off and then took the lower part of the wheel well liner off to install mine. Worked like a charm and made the install very easy.

You can take the wheels off and it will make it easier. You could try just moveing the wheel alll the way to one side but I took the wheels off. 10-15 min each to complete very easy!
