wiper problem. need some ideas please
last weekend while my gf was wiping down the inside the windshield washer button on the end of the wiper control arm on the steering column came out. when she stuck it back in something stuck and the washer pump would not turn off emptying almost all of the washer fluid before she got the button back into place. this morning on the way to work without touching the arm the washer pump came on and the wipers came on on the slowest delay speed. she pulled over turned off the car and restarted it with no problems. a few miles later same problem again. now what? she is at work,so am i .the wipers are on the slowest intermitt speed when she killed the car. i don't know if the washer pump is running also. the tried pulling the button back out, but it didn't help. any ideas. anyone else had this problem with the washer pump switch? the switch thing happened saturday, after she washed it she drove it with no problems, didn't drive it sunday, and drove it to work monday with no problems. where is the wiper/washer fuse? pass floor board?the book is at work with her. anyone think she could pull the fuse before heading home if the wipers are working by themselves again? i really don't want the wipers on the slowest intermitt speed for the 30 min ride home. any help here would be greatly appreciated. this forum is a great place for useful info. sorry this was so long.........
yes,the fuse for the wiper is on the floor of the pass. side. The key is on the flip side of the cover of the fuse panel. It is marked WSW.Sounds like you have a switch problem, although don't rule out the wiper control module.Get the three service manuals they are a big help. Good luck
There are 2 very small springs that are behind the windshield washer button on the end of the stalk. I was able to find the springs and got the button back on with electical tape over the end to prvent the button from popping back out. The entire wiper/washer stalk module was replaced by the dealer.
