Default Coupe vs. Vert

I searched the forum since this topic has to be common question. As stated in my previous post we have begun our search for our next vette which brings me to our next question:

Coupe or Vert?

Our 2000 C5 was a coupe and we love the way it looks and we took the roof panel off often when we drove it. We are open to both styles but not so sure about the vert since we have never had one. One observation I have so far about the vert is how small the cabin feels with the top up. In the coupe the rear window being open makes it seem bigger. I plan on driving a vert this week to really find out if this is something we will want.

I do know if we chose a coupe we want the both glass and painted panels. The glass is very cool and something we haven't had before.

Another observation is the verts seem to be the same price as the coupes on the resales. In some cases I could find vert's cheaper then coupes with the same options.

Thanks again for everyones comments.

To me a Coupe is the best of both worlds!

I debated the same thing and was originally looking at coupes. But I decided to go with the vert and am very glad I did. There's nothing like cruising around with the top down.

Mine's a daily driver (except when there's snow predicted) and it hasn't presented an issue for me yet.

I bought my vert because I found it for the right price. My wife hates the top down so I only put it down when I'm alone. I've had it for 3 yrs and am considering a C6 and it will most likely be a coupe unless I find a dealer that wants to sharpen their pencil on a left over vert. It's not an option that I would worry about either way. When you find the right Vette you'll know it.

I personally never thought about buying a coupe, I started looking for a used '03 EB convertible but "settled" on an '04 CE vert (I wasn't a fan of the shale interior until I redid it with VE stuff)... I think the lines of the coupe are more aggressive but have always wanted a convertible, and haven't regretted the decision ever since!

I liked the 2004 Z06 and the wife liked the Vert. So i bought the Vert and just increased it's power to that of a Z. If i had to do it all over and it was up to me i would definitely buy the vert

We're very pleased with our vert, but either can be great to have. Good luck with the decision.

Both look great. We prefer the coupe but would take a vert in a heartbeat.

I feel much safer in a coupe. Might be because I have never owned a vert. But, when I drive or ride in one I don't like it. Coupes for me.

I love my vert. Can't see buying anything else. I would think they would cost more than a comparable coupe. It's your call. The vert is very well made when the top is up, and there's nothing like top down driving.

I never considered anything but the vert. With fair skin, red (or once red) hair, green eyes and a history of melanoma/basal cells, I always use a floppy hat and sunscreen, just as I do in the boat. We didn't have sunscreen in my youth.

The only vert downside is visibility with the top up. You have to be very careful backing up. As for the tight cabin, I find it cozy rather than claustrophobic.

Mine is not a DD, and the weather is nice almost year round here in SE Ga although Jul-Sep vert weather is mostly in the AM. Your situation is obviously different. How are you planning to use yours?

No wrong answers here……it’s all about personal preference…..I like the looks, extra space and the added security of the coupe.

Wasn't sure which one I wanted, but the Vert was the right Price.

That's exactly my situation. I wasn't looking for a vert as I LOVE the way the Coupes look compared to the verts with the tops up. However, I love having the top down and love the way it looks with the top down.

Now that I own the vert, I absolutely adore it. Of course, here in Phx the top probably won't go down much again until October!

It comes down to personal preference.....i came from the t-top camaro days.....so the coupe is right up my alley......the painted top is good in the summer to block excess sun......the glass top is good at night and cooler times.......and no top whenever you want to feel the air.....i just have never liked convertible cars......nothing personal to the vert lovers.....they are great looking cars.....i just prefer the coupe......get somebody to take you for a ride in a vert and make sure that is what you want.....i KNEW that a coupe was for me.....so never even looked at verts......

atilla.....
