Default Need some advice

Sorry if this is a long read.

I recently had to take my 2000 C5 in to my local Chevy dealership for some repairs. I have GMPP Major Guard. The problems I brought it in for

- Won't start. Transmission seems stuck in gear
- Hissing sound coming from somewhere in the dashboard

After having the car for 2 days they called me and said the problem with the transmission is the shifter cable broke but it's not covered under the warranty because of my aftermarket air intake. I was shocked and had quoted some laws i'm aware of and asked to speak to the service manager. I got a call 20 minutes later saying they made a mistake and it is covered.

I then asked about the hissing sound and they said they can't hear it. So i drove down the next day and showed it to them. The service tech said he'd have the mechanic look in to it.
I got a call 2 days later saying the hissing sound is from my aftermarket speakers. I replied with I have no speakers in the dash, i did replace the speakers in the door but the kicker is my stereo was not even in the car. I have a removable face that i took with me when i droped the car off. I told him there was no way it could be the speakers.
Again i got a call the next day saying it's a normal sound coming from the AC recirculating.
I explained to them it happens when the entire system is turned off and i've had this car for 6 years and it didn't start making that sound until the last 4-5 months so it's not normal. I kept getting the response there's nothing we can do because we can't find anything wrong.

I gave up arguing and went to pickup my car. When i got a few blocks away from the dealership i noticed my center LCD display (where the temperature, fan speed etc) was not working. There was nothing on the display but the system was still working. I called the dealership but they were already closed for the weekend. I called the following Monday and told them my display is no longer working and to top it off, the hissing sound is now louder.
They asked me to bring the car back which I did the next day. They've had it now for a week and now they want me to pay another $200 for my GMPP deductible to fix the display because they claim this is another visit and the deductible is per visit and they can't find a "problem part" for the hissing sound and GMPP does not allow them to continue to "troubleshoot" to find the problem because they can't identify a faulty part.

At this point i'm at my wits end and i asked to speak to the service manager who did nothing but feed me the same line the service tech did.

So my question is am i just screwed? I can't believe the level of service i'm receiving having spent $54,000 for a car and $1,200 for an extended warranty that i've never used until now.

I'm so sorry for your troubles. That's why I don't take my car to Dealer's, they're BULLSH__T! I would put everything in writing and send it off certified to all concerned, The Dealership, the insurance carrier, etc. I would take my car to another dealership or reputable Corvette Expert that honors the extended warranty, if any. Good Luck.

the problem is that most regular dealerships don't have a tech that knows very much about the corvettes. theyre not going to tell you that but thats why you get treated that way. with that being said you probably dont want any of those guys touching your car ever again anyways. find a new shop.

Are there any other dealerships that are local to you?

It sounds like they are just lazy, and are using the fact that your car is modified as leverage against actually putting the time forth to work on it.

Dang sorry dude,

Shocked at dealship, in our area, they don't seem to care about aftermarket stuff, it is a repair, $$$, and guaranteed payment from GM, what the heck...

Good Luck!

Find another dealership that knows Vettes - just like the others have stated. Ask around where you are - find out where other Vette owners take their cars and get a recommendation.

As far as your GMPP - remember that it is not a true "extended warranty", from the perspective that it does not cover the car bumper to bumper. It is primarily a mechanical breakdown policy. It will not cover trim, paint, etc. I strongly recommend that you read the policy over and figure out what it covers you for and what it doesn't.

I feel your pain.
As for the hissing with "everything off". Try pulling a vacuum hose off in the engine bay and see if it stops. Maybe?
