I don't want to steal your thread but regarding the tiger shark front fascia's. Do they come already painted in one of the standard Vette colors or do you have to spend hundreds more to get it painted?

Another case of a little women driving a great big SUV.

Best quote of the night had to be when the driver told me..."Oh my GOD my dad is gonna be sooo pissed. I hit a tree the other day in my car and he's already making me pay $500 for that. If you don't think it's going to be alot.....then he'll just pay for it without the insurance."

Poor guy......can you imagine having a daughter like this?

Sorry about the unfortunate incident. This just reinforces my decision to stay a decent distance from the car in front of me when stopped at a light. Our front ends are low and are hard to see by other drivers.

Hope everything gets resolved A.S.A.P.

Main reason I made sure my SUV has the indicators when I am too close to something. Sometimes you just cant see what is behind you...

sorry about your vette...

Another example of an incompetent SUV driver. My DD is a 1991 Blazer and it got that old because my brother drives a truck and showed me how to drive it.
Most people, notice I said MOST, that drive SUV's have no clue as to the dynamics of an SUV but drive them like a car. There should be mandatory additional instruction and testing done with a variation on the license like a what a motorcycle or truck driver has to do.
Empirical observations of almost all SUV driver's I encounter include:
1: Tailgating at highway speeds. < 2 car lengths > 60mph
2: Rapid lane change with no signal.
3: Excessive corner speed. These things have a high center of gravity and like to flip.
4: Speeding is their right. No it's not.
5: Not understanding and driving according to the blind spots.
6: Intimidation. They use the vehicle's size to intimidate other driver's to submit to their will because they have a feeling of invincibility.

The above case is an indication of inexperience and ignorance in operation of the SUV.
Too many people are getting injured or killed because of careless or inattentive drivers.
---
I hope you get your situation resolved quickly and inexpensively. And good job not losing your temper and taking the high road. Thank no one was injured.

That really sucks. I had the same exact thing happen to me on wed. of last week. Some guy traveling through our state from florida realized that he was in the wrong lane and backed right into me at the light. He tried to give me all of his info so that we didn't have to get the police involved but i told him that was ok that they were already on the way. When he heard that he jumped back in his van all pi$$ed off like it was a big problem or something.

That SUCKS! sorry to hear that
you can get the TS from 21st century muscle cars for 950 if you have fog lights and about 750 w/out fog lights
call them on the phone and you might be able to work a deal for a little less money, I did
check out my TS front at www.cardomain.com/ride/2360511
good luck getting it fixed bro, if you do spend the money for the TS you will not regret it!!!!

It must be a silver vette thing. Three weeks ago my vette was backed into by a man who had just drove by it ten seconds eariler. The first thing out of his wifes mouth was " Dennis your such a dumba**, you just hit a car that cost more than our house". I was worried that they wouldn't have insurance, but they did and the appraiser was a car guy. So things worked out alright, we just have to remember that accidents happen when people don't pay attention.

First off, I am sorry this happened to you. I know all too well the dangers of driving the vette on our public roads. It is safer to drive it on a race track than on any freeway or side road.

The problem is not so much that our cars are small (low), it's that you can't see very well out the back of SUVs and the side mirrors don't help much since they're so wide. He couldn't see the Lexus at all, so I'm sure this young lady could not see you. Those backup cameras and warning systems are really needed in SUVs.

He damaged the Lexus a little more than she did your car ... it broke the radiator and had to be towed.
I am not flaming you but I'm sorry, this is not a valid excuse. I drive a 3/4 ton full 8' bed with a camper shell and I have driven other SUVs also. You HAVE to always be aware of what is around you. Some of the newer SUVs and pickups now have a kewl feature that when you put it in reverse the side mirrors adjust downwards and inwards so you can see where you are going. "Your car is just too small" is just a cop out for I shouldn't be driving this large SUV cause I can't pay attention.

One side note, she should be happy that the cops didn't show up. I know that in CA if you are younger than 18 you can't have people your age or younger in the car without an adult there also.
