Poor guy......can you imagine having a daughter like this?
I don't feel to sorry for him, he more then likely gave her the SUV to drive after just wrecking her own car, and if he hadn't given her the SUV to drive, your car would probably still be in perfect condition. Either way, sorry to hear about your misfortune, and good luck with the repairs.

First of all.....thanks to all the words of support from my forum buddies. Nothing like a little free therapy from the guys on the board. Anyway, State Farm finalized the claim and is doing the right thing. They are paying for all dealer replacement parts (most like to authorize only aftermarket body parts). The adjuster told me "you had factory pieces on your car and that's what we are going to replace."

Wow! Never had service like that before. Anyway, total damage is a front bumper cover and the emblem on the front bumper. Aftermarket hood seal was ripped so that's being replaced as are the stainless steel inserts on the cover. Because the SUV actually rode up on my bumper and compressed it down it actually screwed up the spoiler/air dam underneath the car. The air dam and spring are being replaced. Paint on the front bumper and cover as well as blending on both front fenders and the hood/headlamp covers.

I am dropping the car off to the body shop on Friday and her insurance already has a rental car scheduled to pick me up from the shop. All in all, I don't feel so bad as the quality customer service I've received so far has been excellent.

Glad to hear everything seems to be working out to your liking. Hopefully the end body work will look flawless and you will never know the difference.

Default So Is The Penalty Death By Dragging Or Fire?

What penalty is appropriate ? A couple of teen age girls celebrating a birthday.. A unfortunate backing accident, not malice.. no denial of responsibility. I would even say remorse and fear at realizing they had damaged someone Else's car. So why all the animus ?? got kids ?? have they ever made any mistakes in their young lives.. Have you ?? this was not some yahoos, drunk behind the wheel, or some reckless a$$ holes, just a couple of teenage girls in their fathers car with permission to use a family vehicle.. not a one of you loves his vettes more than me. But i have kids too. And i love them more.. I would hate to think of the consequences i would be willing to suffer willingly at any expense in defense of my children resulting from a traffic accident.
Or responding to vile insults from ANY forum member Anywhere when it comes to my children.
Maybe i need to get the hell off this forum , it,s been ALLOWED to go too far this time. And for all of you who said nothing about the remarks"dirty hookers" when another member describes a couple of teenage girls ,Ive buried better company.

She didn't smell like alchohol or anything....just seemed like a ditz, you know?

She was pretty nervous and apologetic so I didn't go off. Besides a 6'2" and 250 lb. guy yelling at a 17 year old girl no taller than 5'1" wouldn't look too good if the cop pulled up at that moment.
I commend and respect you for handling the situation with a cool head and sensibly. Too bad there are not many others like you who do not.. hope you get it fixed soon.

My wife almost ran over me backing her suv out of my parents driveway. I was behind her and could not move once she started backing out (driveway is kind of like a T). I layed on the horn and my dad stopped her or she would have rolled right over me. The Vettes sit so low that it is hard to see. Glad you guys were okay.
