Just purchased my 2003 Black on Black Z06. 14k miles on it. So far I am loving the car.
I want to get started on some of the basic fixes for the car, and the Skip-shift eliminator is first on my list. Can anyone link me to a site where I can purchase one and perhaps point me in the direction of a write up for the install of this.
Also, what other items are popular as "first" mods for the Z06? I was thinking about replacing the shifter... as being 6'6" tall the bulky **** tends to bang against my knee while in first.

Hey Rich,
Congrats on your Z! Welcome to life in the LS6 lane.
CAGS Eliminator is available from many different outlets such as Corvette Central, Ecklers, Mid America Motorworks, etc. It costs about $20 and takes all of 5 minutes to install...lift the rear of the car, slide underneath and plug it in...simple.
I have my stock shifter so I can't speak to the shifter mod.
Another popular and simple mod for your car is the "zip Tie Mod for your intake. Simply remove your airfilter and replace with a K&N airfilter. Do not replace the front of the airfilter housing but instead secure the filter in place using zip ties. See the sticky posts at the top of the page. You should see one for the Zip Tie Mod.
Check the Sticky at the top of the forum for FAQ's for lots of good info. Also check out the C5 Tech tips (https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...php?TopicID=1). I bought my 04 Black/MR new in June 2004. First thing I did as well was the skip shift eliminator. Later, I added the Donaldson Black wing and some appearance mods. I have been unable to decide on shifters and ***** and have stuck with stock till now, leaning towards the C6 Z06 setup at this point. I should add that mine is a daily driver, so that is a major factor for me in terms of what mods I want to make and can live with in that regards.
Anyways, congrats. Taking the time to get to know the car well is always a good strategy before going over mods.

Back in the Nissan world, we called that the GAB mod... Ghetto Air Box Good plan though, how are the gains compared to something like a Callaway Honker?
Ill be getting some pics up tomorrow or tuesday. I took delivery 2 days early so they didnt have time to wash her. Im going to give her a thorough detailing tomorrow.

Absolutely. Im taking it slowly with the mods on the Z. Mine also is a daily driver, so it still has to be driveable.
I won a C6 Z06 shifter off of ebay for $110. Took about an hour to install. Longest part was getting the stupid demon key out of the C5 shifter **** without tearing up the old ****. So far it's been my favorite mob to my Z06. No problems, shorter shifts, I love it. I'm not a drag racer so I didn't need a B&M shifter or want the extra noise the after market shifters bring. Really a nice mod. I found out how to do the change-out right off the forums.

Welcome to the club! You will enjoy your car, I am sure. It is one of the best all around performers for the money out there. I bought my 04 Z new and have loved every minute of it. Sadly, it is for sale due to the fact that my kids are beginning college this fall and Dad needs to rearrange his priorities for a few years so that they can be edukated.
CLB is Column Lock Bypass. The steering column lock has a habit of going bad when people are away from home in the car and they end up stranded. I got mine from Corvettes of Houston for $49.00. Install was pretty easy.
