I am going to be installing some urethane bushings in my suspension here very soon. I see there is two brands out, energy suspension, and prothane. Big price difference between the two. Any one runnig either of the two if so what are your impressions, easy of installation, and so on? Thanks for any input.
I will be ordering one of the two sets in the next day or two, and installing it days after. I guess I will let you know how it goes. I will also be installing the dte diff brace at the same time.
Any one who has already installed them?
I bought and installed (have not drove the car yet) the Vette Brakes & Products kit. They are not cheap but the reason I went with them was the fact they come with all the hardware. You don't have to remove your old centers from your factory bushings saving a LOT of time. I'm extremely impressed with the front upper bushing. They come with a new billet aluminum center shaft/mount. The only problems I seen with the kit that could have been better was the upper rear bushings were not really tight in the arms, I hope they don't spin in the arms. The ohter problem was the washers on the ends of the lower arms. Both lower front and the front of the lower rear have washer that are too large and will limit the adjustment of the arm. Since the washers are too large they hit the inside of the crossmember on the far inward travel you loose a little adjustment. I put all my washers on a bolt and put them in a lathe and turned them down to the same OD as the factory washers and they worked fine. They have a different size lip on the inside than the factory washers so you can't use the factory washers. Other than those two issuses I had no problem with their kit and I can say the kit looks very impressive. They say "These special polyurethane bushings are graphite impregnated and eliminate static bind in the suspension movement." and I can say the arms move a lot better than stock, and the bushings are way harder than stock. I could not beleive how soft factory bushings are! Another note, I did not use any grease on the outside of the bushings as the instructions said. I wanted to be sure the bushings did not spin in the arms. I had no problem pressing the bushings in the arms without greasing the outer part of the bushings or bore in the arm.
