Default Latest brake upgrade complete!

Rather than go through the hassle and expense of a typical big brake kit, I decided on Baer Eradispeed C6 Z51-sized front rotors with Baer 14" rear rotors, and Hawk HP+ pads. Thanks to TByrne for the rotors and Corvette Pilot for the powdercoated Z51 front brake brackets.

This is a comparison shot of the factory C5 brackets next to the C6 Z51 brackets:

New 13.35" front rotors installed with old 12.75" ones in front:

What it looks like behind an 18" CCW wheel:

Rear 14" rotors with old 12" ones in front:

Rears installed (sorry for the cell phone cam pic, will take a real one shortly):

Only thing is, I had to use a spacer for the rear 19X11.5" SP500's to clear the calipers. Argh. Ghetto ones are in there now so I can drive the car, but I'll soon replace them with DRM hubecentric ones. Anyway, combined with the Hawk pads, they work great!!!!

Very nice!

Let me guess, the rear calipers hit on the spokes of your CCw's?

Check out what I did here

Ohh, I'll sell you some CCW 1/4" spacers if you like.

That is what I'm wanting to do. What was the cost of the brackets and rotors? Looks good.

Bret, I got the brackets from forum member Corvette Pilot for $132 including powdercoating, and the rotors were $489/pr from TByrne and were a special order item since I got them slotted and zinc washed, but not drilled so they won't crack during track days. Rears, of course, came with their own extension brackets.

They work great! Had the same Hawk HP+ pads with a C5 brake conversion on my '92, but these rotors are larger and they stop on a dime. I'm very happy with their performance.

Mine don't just hit the little part that you ground off, mine hit the body of the caliper itself, so it might not be an option for me. Oh, and PM sent.

Looks great.

Do the drilled rotors really have problems cracking? That was going to be my next project... I love the look of the drilled, but I don't wanna do it, if they are going to end up cracking.

They will crack. It comes down to when. The harder you are on them, the quicker it will happen. If your car is just street it will take a long time. A track car forget about it and get either blanks or sloted.

so you've upgraded your rotors but kept the same caliper?

i dont see hwo this has increased your stopping power .. you probably would have gotten the same performance out of your stock sized rotors and upgraded your pads.

however aesthetically, they fill in the wheel quite nicely, and look great.
