Any customer who has a GMPP contract with at least 3 months AND 3000 miles of coverage term remaining may purchase additional coverage. This can only be done by canceling the existing contract and submitting a Contract Registration Form for the new coverage desired. The existing contract will be canceled and the refund will be calculated on a pro rata basis with all refunds going to the appropriate parties with the cancellation fee waived. The following purchase rules will apply:
* The customer may purchase only the same or a lesser level of coverage.
* The customer may choose only a $50, $100 or $200 deductible regardless of the deductible on the original contract.
* The customer may purchase only a term and level of coverage that is available for the vehicle based on its current age and odometer miles.
* The MSRP will be those in place at the time of purchase of the new contract.
I thought I would post this for all of the older GMPP plan holders out there. I have had more than 10 requests this morning to extend GMPP's and all 10 were unable to do so because of the 3 months and 3000 miles that GM requires.
If you have any questions on this or wish me to see if you will qualify to extend your GMPP just send me the VIN and current miles to gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com and I will do so.
Thanks Dennis. Several here on C5 General have recently asked about extending their GMPP so here's a ttt for your post to give others a chance to read.
This is very important. Had I known, I would still have a valid GMPP. Mine expired in Feb 06. I wasn't aware that they could be extended. I believe this is a recent thing to be able to extend anyway. Oh well, just bad timing for me.
Dennis: Thanks for the post. Is the date of the new renewal then 3 months short of the origianl plus the new. In other words do we lose 3 months of warranty?
The way this works (GMPP rules-not mine) is: You must do this 3 months and 3000 miles before expiration. I call them and cancel your existing plan-you get a refund back (most of time enough for dinner at McDonalds) and then 24 hours later I apply for the new plan. I guess you could say you loose 3 months but you get some money back for it also. I feel it is a great thing that you can even buy another warranty and get 3 or 4 years more coverage. Hope this helps.

can all this be done over the phone or do you need to see the car?
Over the phone is fine, just get the exact odometer reading out of your car before calling and I need the VIN number also. I have only had 1 customer out of about 5000 that has fibbed on his mileage and it bit him in the b--t when he had a claim happen before the mileage that he gave me. GMPP dropped him and he had to pay for the repair himself so I guess my point is do not lie about the mileage.
