Default Stainless inserts misaligned

I installed the stainless inserts on the rear fascia and the center bar on the "E" is crooked . Is there an easy way to remove and reattach?? Thanks in advance.

try soaking some dental floss in some laquer thinner and 'saw' it off. then reapply straight.

Once they are on that is it. There is no removing these then reattaching. When peeling them off the metal will bend and never look the same no matter what you do. Only thing to do is order a replacement (which they will likely send for free). Just peel the thing off and get yourself a new letter.

Hope this helps and saves you some time and hassle.

I am sorry to have to disagree with you,but that is not altogether true. You must take care when removing to keep from bending, but they can be straightened...unless you just completely ruin them ...

How do I know?
I got mine from a forummember Orange county Mike, when he removed them from his car...he thought they were worth nothing also and was giving them away

A couple minor bends, flattened out with smooth jaw plier,a little patience, new tape installed, then reinstalled( a couple of them more than once)

You cannot tell the difference from new

I had to reinstall the E portion the original poster speaks of,this is a common problem when installing them.

It CAN be done

Sorry, but this is the best pic I have of them.it should be closer

Well you must have some special skills that I dont because when I carefully removed mine I tried to get it back in shape but since the finish is so polished and smooth the slightest of bends was so clear and visible. Or maybe it was because mine was attached very good. I used the supplied adhesive primer and once it was on it was VERY tough to get off.

But hey you can always try it and if it doesnt work order the new one.

I think the key was the SMOOTH JAW pliers, with a towel, and a LOT of pressure

Each letter was slightly bent...

And just a fyi,I did not remove them,OC mike did,.I just picked them up

C5 COAST!!!! would you like me to bring said pliers to Andy's gathering this weekend??

I gooned up my 'E' too; just carefully worked/pried off with eyeglass screwdriver and re-applied w/ 3m outdoor double-sided tape i got from Home Depot.

No problems.

Sure bring em down. I believe it's doable with a lot of patience.

In addition to using care while you're pulling it off, use heat. Get a hair dryer and warm up the letter - this will soften the adhesive allowing you to gently pull it out. You can get new double sided tape at most auto stores. Be careful not to really heat it up - you don't want to melt anything.

I'm going to proceed as if I was removing side moldings...using heat's a good idea. Thanks

Happy to report that flossing is a great thing to do.....letters came off perfectly. No lacquer/liquor or hair dryer necessary. Tape was still fresh and rolled off the paint with no problemo

Joe I'll hook up with you somewhere/sometime and return your pliers. Not able to make the Orange GTG tomorrow due to a slight fuel crisis

Props to all for the suggestions.
