oil change quart amount

Default oil change quart amount

Yeah its probaly in the manual and that there are always posts about it, but I am too lazy for any of that. So how many quarts do I put in?

With filter, 7 quarts. (Even though the manual says 6.5)

The oil pan is so flat, jacking up the back is the only way to get all the oil out, or at least that is what they tell me.

im wondering how much oil will remain if i just drain the oil without lifting the rear.im not a fan of doing that

Not enough to worry about...just don't fill it back with 7 quarts...try using 6 1/2 and then keep an eye on the dipstick and if needed , adjust accordingly

I've always put in 6.5 quarts with the filter change and it has read full. Others report using 7 quarts to reach the full mark. I would start with the 6.5 quarts and add more if necessary.

Both the owner's manual and GM Service Manual say approximately 6.5 quarts with filter. However, much will depend on how well the system was drained when removing the old oil.

I put in 6.5 quarts of oil with a new filter. After sitting overnight in the garage, it's right at the full line, on the dip stick.
