Default **Need Help** Codes-Nothing works

Hello:
I need some help with my 98 C5. I went for a ride today. After driving for about a mile, I tried to put the windows up and they did not move. I then got all kinds of messages on the DIC..”door ajar, low tire pressure, reduce engine power… and so on. The messages cycled one after the other.
I pulled over and turned off the car. I then turned back on but it did not fix anything.
Nothing works in the car- no radio, no AC …not sure what is happening.
My Vette has 56000 and I have always driving it carefully.

Has this ever happen to anybody else here? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks and Happy 4th.

I'd start with a new battery

Random electrical faults are almost certainly battery related.

That would still be my bet. You might look at whether its getting a charge or maybe a drain on the system?

Some other possibles beyond the low battery

1) Recent mechanical work where the battery terminals might have been disconncected/reconnected? Look for any evidence of any looseness.

2) Any engine bay work at all where some electrical conduction might cross a ground wire.

3) Steam (or other high pressure) cleaning the engine bay.

Good luck!

I hate to say but none of the above. The bay work related stuff. I will check the battery and see what it tells.
Thanks a bunch for the prompt help....

Will it help if I disconect the battery and then reconect after a while?

And if that is the case. How do I fix this issue? Thanks.

Probably not, excepting that you'd be reconnecting a loose connection.

After a visual inspection for the obvious, probably the next thing to start with is the DIC codes.

Try a google search of the CF with this link:

http://www.google.com/advanced_searc...ive&as_qdr=all

and search on terms like "DIC CODES" "CODE MEANING" "HOW DO I" and things such as those to get help with understanding the numerical codes.

With the age of the car (98), you may have a LOT of codes out there, so clearing them and then watching to see if more codes are thrown could be helpful in isolating whether/which control module has barked.

Also, the age (98) + your location (humid locale) may point to some corrosion developing in the system. Use the same link as above to look for CF messages about "CORROSION" "CLEANING" "CHECKING FOR" "GROUNDING POINTS" "CLEANING CONTACTS" and stuff.

Good luck!
