Default Stupid Question

I was changing my oil today (after building a mickey moused ramp) and I was just wondering what I should do in terms of record keeping. I don't really care since it will be mine for a long time, but say you were going to by my z06. What would you like to see in terms of records, since I did it myself. Just a printed paper with all dates and mileages of oil changes, or possibly receipts for oil as well to prove it was actually done? Thanks guys! BTW, changing the oil was never such a pain on any other car I've ever owned but it sure was worth it.

Keep the receipts for warranty issues (if you still have warranty). I would also think that the dates of the receipts coinciding with dates of your recorded oil/filter changes would add some credence to your record keeping. Keep it all. Can't hurt.

Hopefully when the perspective buyer sees my garage they will know I have performed the required service.

Receipts can be difficult, when you buy oil and filters in bulk, to show you changed the oil a year later using them. I have never kept receipts, only recorded dates and what I did. That has always worked and I have never been questioned about it.

Along with the receipts and records, I also keep the cap rings from the bottles of oil. Doesn't mean much until you have some color changes in the bottles, which happens. The older rings from Mobil One are a clincher.

I keep a maintenance spreadsheet, showing dates, mileage, and part numbers. Includes work i have done, and work performed by others. (recalls, alinements, etc.) Need to know when the last time I added fuel treatment. No problem........Last time I changed brake fluid.............
