As was said in your other rear thread, GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. This guy wants your cash badly. I can only imagine what he'll "find" once he takes things apart.
edit- my mistake- the thread that I was taking about was for Bracketman.
Either way, I highly doubt you're diff. is cracked. It's "common" alright.- for guys who do the 1/4 mile with drag radials.

They put mine on the lift and found two bolts loose enough to turn a quarter turn. Put some dye in it and it leaked (seaped) again after an 80 mile trip. New seals are going in under warranty.
I just went thru this with my 98. It was the rear trans extension seal. I had it repaired at a Corvettes only shop for about 50$ more than the dealer wanted and I feel so much more confident in the work.
The way I figure, the dealer works on Vettes because he has to........a corvette shop works on them because they want to!
Total cost- $725.00 2 days in the shop
P.S. that must be a pain to use a capital letter for the first letter of every word in your post?
This "leaking seal" seems to be a very common problem, yet I've never seen a photo of the typical leak location. Does anyone have a photo showing where seal leaks typically occur?
I ask because I also have a leaking rear . I can't pin point where its coming from.

I'd put money on the diff seal leaking
If its not leaked before the original seals are known to be bad. They fit a modified seal to fix it. I'd say challenge his diagnosis
