Default Covers on lug nuts

Can anyone tell me if the covers on the 2003 Z06 lug nuts should be chrome or the grayish color to match the wheel?

I bought a set of wheels and the person sent chrome lug nut covers...

Grey is stock. I put chrome covers on. I think they look better.

Had a 01 Z06. It had steel lugnuts with gray plastic screw-in lug nut covers.

My 2002 Z06 was produced in April 2002. It had chrome lug nuts without covers and no locking lug.

So, the real answer to your question is that chrome lugnuts are correct on a 2003 Z06.

Correct. Although they look a bit more like a stainless steel jacket on a regular steel nut (similar to how a jacketed high powered rifle bullet is built).

Don't use air tools on them. Even one time will put very ugly marks on them. Since I remove my wheels a lot for track prep etc. I just went to the wheel store and got some good old fashioned real solid chromed steel nuts. Air gunned them countless times with no damage...

IIRC, they switched over to the chrome lug nuts midyear 2002, so all 2003's should have the chrome lug nuts. I've had the covers on another GM car. I think that they look better than the chrome lugs personally, but they are a PITA, especially if you R&R your wheels frequently.
