When was the last time that you saw your vette motor on fire?????
When I painted my last one everyone wanted to order one from me because it came out killer! My driveway sealer has cured and as soon as I get time, I'm going to start painting it. Not only that if it got that hot in there what do you idiots think would happen to the plastic lettering that is on the plentium covers? And what do you think would happen to Paula's air brush job it the first place. What do you think that she uses in her airbrush high heat cusomized color paints?
You paranoids are probably the ones that think you cant wash your engine because it'll get wet. Bunch of wussies. Probably drive your car the little ole lady from Pasadena instead of getting out there and snotting that car the way it was sposed to be.

Got up on the wrong side today, We're just giving our thoughts, Most people take better care of their vettes. If taking care of a car means we're a wuss,, I guess I fall into that catagory,, and proud of it ! To each his own. Good thing not everyone abuses their car or there wouldn't be any good used ones out there.. c ya !! B kool !
The point of the hoodliner is to function like a fire blanket for an underhood fire. The plastic plugs that hold the liner onto the hood melt from a fire, and the liner drops down with the intent of smothering the fire - in theory.....
Not to throw a blanket on your clever fix - (pun intended!!), Carmotorsports makes a hoodliner that goes over your existing OEM hoodliner - so it doesn't matter what condition the OEM hoodliner is in, it gets covered up. The new blanket is embroidered and really looks great.....just another option!
Just curious...how hot do you think the fire would have to get and how long would it have to burn before it melted the plastic plugs, and how much damage would already be done to the car by then?
i had some water stains on the hood liner on my (late) 2000 NBM coupe. i took some krylon semi-flat and sprayed some into a small plastic container. then took a small sponge with paint and lightly did a "dabble" thing on the effected areas (not sure if "dabble" is the right word (or if it's even a word- )). absolutely couldn't tell. ...but, driveway sealer - ???
O.k. I tried, but couldn't hold back. You are calling other people wussies for replying to YOUR post about the FUZZY hoodliner on your new purchase which you put driveway sealer on because you didn't like the fuzz under the hood???
YEP! And so far, I have the vette emblem done and just like the last one that I painted, it's coming out beautifully!
My origanal post was just written as possible helpfull information that someone could use if the texture on the hoodliner was really hairy. The last one I had was fairly "hairy", but I used a bunch of primer and black paint, but when I ultimately put the flames on it the texture was still there. Usually, though when your are able to admire someone's decorated hood liner you are more than three feet away.
As far as Paula's work--it's impeccable. She is a supporting member you'll find her over there on the left hand side of your page.
I'll post the pictures of my do-it-yourself work when I'm done.
And when my motor catches on fire, I'll collect the insurance and buy a yellow C6.
I actually thought that you especially would know what I was talking about.
After I painted the last one, I bought another just to either sell or do differently. I kind of lost it (someone threw it away), anyway, yep it was really smooth and would've been easy to paint. The driveway sealer really did make a good base for the current artwork.
I am not an artist like you, but with a little time spent, my last one cam out, like I said, killer.
That was the first time that I even used an airbrush.
