Default C5 keyless entry problem

Hey guys, I just bought a 2000 C5 corvette and love the car. Only problem is when I got it the owner said the keyless entry stopped working and should try replacing the battery. Well I did that and it did not work so I opened up my manual and went through the directions it gave me to resynchronize and even matching my transmitter back up with the car. When I did it, the transmitter worked fine, then after a few minutes it would not work at all. So I have tried this about five times now and every time after about a minute or so it won't work. It acts like it just loses it memory. Any help on this issue to get this to work? I did a search on this but couldn't get exact answers. Thanks guys.

i learned on this forum if your car battery drops below 9 volts for just a milisecond it can cause the remote to lose it's program and sure enough i replaced the battery with a ompta red top and no problems since...just my .02 worth

Yes, I have tried this and the horn beeps and it works for a couple of minutes then it just stops. Don't know what is going on with it. Thank again.

Have you tried reprogramming it through your DIC?

True. See the following thread, especially Bill Curlee's reply:

Keyless Entry Always Needs to be Reset

Good luck with the fix!

Also would not hurt to clean the fob battery contacts with a pencil eraser.
